Will Given the new limitations I was effectively asked on my last post if the site might charge to blog? This has come up before when things change around here. This is just off the top of my head so I haven't fully thought it through. My initial thought is no they won't. Reason being, there are lots of places people can "blog" or post stuff/questions/etc on the net. Many are subject specific; politics, sports, travel, etc. - things that do get discussed here. Farcebook is one. The biggest difference is people are, or can be, naked here. Viva Las Naked . Otherwise much of what bloggers do here can be done elsewhere - for free. Unpaid members are potential payers if they come across something here that gets them motivated to pay. Blogging was possibly a source of some paid members when a certain blogger was here and had a very large following. The only thing(s) that work against us is we (bloggers) are a very small percentage of the total membership on these sites. So we seem to go unnoticed. And standard members are even less then that. If they did charge it wouldn't effect any big number of members. OK use your words. When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself. |

They're in for a big surprise if they do charge - $0 and zero people. When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

They're surprises aren't very good huh? I would miss you too K. When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

I don't see them charging members to blog....as it is blogging is in a serious decline on the site....they give most female bloggers free gold so I doubt it would raise much revenue if they started to charge. I wouldn't put it pass them. With the decline in chatrooms over the years I am sure blogland is only thing that is bring people into the site now since most are not getting laid! Don't give them any ideas they already have enough of our money hugssssssss V When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

Yeah, I know. But the ideas they com up with tend to suck too. When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

I don't think they'll make us pay to blog, but they might make us pay to enjoy the way we blog now. For instance... That thing where we can't get to page #2 on the blogs and even in our own blog, that could be just a new gimmick and not a glitch. Maybe we will only be able to comment on what's on page 1 or who we have saved as favorites. . If you want to be able to really look around, you'll have to get Gold. I could see them doing that... When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

Bloggers supply free and fresh content to their site. (Oversight is minimal.) .. Sometimes we're considered and thought about, while we are not at the top of the list for attention. Blogging can feel like work sometimes. - I would not pay to do it. When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

If they do I am going to miss you fellow bloggers, I enjoy reading your blogs and commenting, but I will not pay to blog or comment on blogs, unless we the members are making money from it, Because being the top blogger and not getting money for it isn't going to pay rent, car note or insurance lolol When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

I can't imagine they'd do so. They promote blogging as a way to boost popularity and reward popularity by giving away gold memberships, even if it's just 2 weeks at a time for those of us slackers who are downright inconsistent about blogging. When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

It doesn't make any kind of financial sense for this to ever be a thought or go on here and there would definitely be a decline in membership if it happens and as you said there are other places one can blog for free? When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

There was a time when it was well worth paying a years membership just to blog. Then I realized all I was doing was financing the very people that deemed me to old to be here.Rather counterproductive, sadly! When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

Whether 'They' decide to charge or not, to blog or comment will be a decision they may never have to make. In this ever-changing cyber world, I feel people demand to know things soon and faster, (ie. Twitter, Instagram etc.) and so blogging will become passé and die a slow death all on its own without anyone's help. I have been blogging on this site for well over a decade and I've seen multiple changes, and people, both bloggers and active commenters, come and go. When I first started blogging, there were pages of new blogs every day. Now, probably barely a page on a good day. So like the way of the dial/rotary phones, and then the flip phones, change is inevitable and I read that soon Smartphones will too be a thing of the past.... Time changes and waits for no one...... When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.
