RIP Justin Wilson

I don’t do other social media so I will post this to this internet ether hoping it will get to him. I did not know him but I have heard he was a good guy. He was an advocate for safety improvement in auto racing. Hopefully some improvement will come from his passing. From what I could see he probably never knew what hit him – that is a good thing.

As a former driver I know the addiction known as racecar driving. When you put the fire suit and helmet on you choose to take on, and even ignore, the potential dangers. I am probably too “old” to do it again but my helmet and suit are always ready.

My condolences and best wishes to his family.

Yes, and a freak/rare occurrence in the way it happened.

It is a shame. He was only like 37, right? I hope they come up with something to prevent this from happening again.
Did you ever drive at Pocono's Speedway? I was there once. I lived about 45 minutes from there.
    RIP Justin Wilson.
Yes 37, wife and 2 kids. Any change to prevent what happened to him would involve enclosing the cockpit. A very fundamental aspect of Indy cars. It seemed like a kind of a freak thing really, I’ve been hit by small stuff (dirt or a pebble) it is part of open cockpit racing.

No I am based in the west but Pocono looks like a great track with lots of history.

Anything done half-heartedly will net you an equivalent result. ~CH
