An apology

No, this is not sex related, but this subject has been discussed here before so . . .
First, I am a huge football fan. I expect the game to be played by the rules.

Mr. Kraft, whom I care little about one-way or another, has asked for an apology in regard to “Deflategate”. He probably isn’t going to get one from the NFL. So this will have to suffice.

I am sorry you have a number of dishonest people working for you. I am sorry you and those people lack integrity.
I am sorry but your team deserves to lose a significant number of draft picks.
I am sorry that you have a team name that you do not represent well or deserve to use.

I am sorry your highly talented and accomplished quarterback thought he had to;
- get involved in tampering with the game balls,
- lie to cover up that tampering,
- has now lost a significant amount of integrity
I am sorry but Mr. Brady deserves to be significantly suspended.

I am sorry your coach, who is probably one of the best football minds in the game, thinks we believe he ‘does not know’ anything about how the balls were dealt with.
I am sorry but Mr. Bela-cheat (hummm, sorry, I guess my auto correct did that, I know nothing about it) deserves to be significantly suspended.

Finally, I am sorry that you are such a sorry example for anyone to follow.

Sincerely

Disclaimer: I am a die-hard RAIDER baby. And, I really, really hate dishonest people.

An ex of mine (Charger fan) said Raiders were god-forsaken. I usually quoted something she said a lot . . . whatever! !

And the three of us are Anti-Bronco too. But I have to admit Manning is damn impressive no matter what uniform he is wearing.

My only comparison to Sean Peyton is he; if the story I recall is correct, did not know what Greg Williams et al were doing. He was suspended because he, as head coach, should have known, setting precedence for what a head coach can or should be suspended for.

I agree the Colts stunk up the field; the ball thing really did not matter in that game. The NFL hopefully learned the lesson. The never should have allowed any game checked ball out of their sight, that was just plain stupid.

True M. Butler won the game . . . and not giving it to M Lynch was a pretty damn dumb play.

Like I said earlier: Belichick is probably one of the best football minds in the game, Brady is a highly talented and accomplished quarterback. Both are Hall of Fame material. Before the “tuck rule” game and Spygate I didn’t really care either way about the Pats. Now, I am anti-Pats to go along with my anti-Dallas and anti-Broncos.

And YES, I really hate that the Raiders are not winning and looking like crap doing it. Maybe this year will be better; Carr and Cooper Del Rio and others will right the Jolly Roger.

Yeah, you were very close. It is interesting that the team, not NFL, suspended the equipment guys. Nothing for Belichick, vs what Payton got, makes their punishment regime come across as really quirky.

Yeah blame Raider fans, now there is a conspiracy. Start the investigation in Dallas on the grassy knoll.

I fully admit to being a Patriot hater, “Tuck Rule”, need I say more?

Except for the Belichick part that is probably close to how it will end up. I just do not believe he knew nothing. Hopefully we are right as far as the little guys. Agreed on the Ray Rice thing, but Goodell handled that all wrong so I wouldn’t even start to compare it to anything. No AP comparison either. My comparison to “Bountygate” is only the Sean Peyton reasoning for his punishment, not for the actions that were taken.

Also, TB’s response last night was weak at best. If he weren’t in MA last night he wouldn’t have had the crowd to support him. Interesting it was in Salem – is he a witch.

NFL does bear some responsibility in this too. They should never allow game balls out of their possession once they are prepped. Are/were they really that stupid? Unfortunately the game result can’t be undone but the Colts stunk up the joint so it is a moot point.

Good questions Boris. Hold on to yer helmet.

This situation is “detrimental to the league”, so that should apply to all involved. The Pats didn’t get the message with the “Spygate” thing. The NFL needs to start showing it really has integrity. Goodell punishing his buddy/boss (can you scream conflict of interest) would be a step toward that. However, I would imagine whatever penalties are given they will be appealed. So, my suggestions below reflect a pre-appeal penalty. Unfortunately, I have a feeling the league (Goodell) will give back a lot on appeal.

FWIW, whether the psi of the balls affects a play, or a game, is arguable – but irrelevant. The rule was violated and there seems to be a cover up (for lack of a better term).

For Brady: He pretty clearly knew it was happening, he knew it was illegal, the balls were where he wanted them. Along with his knowledge/part in the deflating he also failed to fully cooperate with the investigation. Kraft indicated early on they would “fully cooperate”. This is as bad, if not worse, than the deflation thing. 1 season for Tom, UNpaid. Let Geselle foot the bills for a while.

For Bela-cheat. As I understood it the league said in regard to “Bountygate” that while Sean Payton was not involved he should have known. The only difference to for me was Greg Williams et al were trying to injure and end careers of players. Williams deserves a lifetime ban, which is effectively what he was trying to do to other players. And, it is hard to believe Bela-cheat, a detail-oriented, control kind of guy, didn’t even know how many pounds the balls are supposed to be. Really! Payton was suspended for 1 season. 1 season for Bill, UNpaid.

For Team: At least 1 first round pick. Can’t recite an example off the top of my head, but they do exist.

For the equipment guys: Minor punishments. They were screwed from the start. Is a “ball-boy” going to really say no to Tom or Bill? They had a no win situation once the decision to deflate was made. They now know what the underside of a bus looks like.

Dollar-wise, whatever, Kraft and team has huge bank, he/they will pay for Tom and Bill at least. They will write it off on taxes somehow, the public/fans pay.

Would love to hear your insider view. As biased as it might be

Silver and Black till I die. But boy has it been hard since Chuckie left. I loved Al but I think he went crazy or something later on.

Ghost to the post, Biletnikoff and Lester Hayes with stickum on their socks. Lyle Alzado was my guy. I still wear a #77 jersey to the sports bars, even when I lived in Colorado.

Just Win Baby!
