I just can't say no to her... she said you have to try this... I just can't say no to her... she said you have to try this... So, there I was... minding my own business this past Wednesday night, writing my previous blog, when my texted me... she was at FBRN in Arlington as a guest for a radio talk show... Now, I don't know much about this radio station... but, she wanted me to talk sports with the DJs... so, what the heck... I said ok... slow night and all... She sent me their call-in phone number, and I dialed... The two DJs were on with my ... she works in admissions for dementia and alzheimer patients during the day and is now venturing into comedy... and, lately, she has been asked to come onto this radio show... this was her third time as a guest... So, I get on and they ask me about my Dallas Cowboys... I imparted some of my knowledge, but, these guys knew their football... except, they didn't know the Troy Aikman story like I did... they were young when the Cowboys won the '92, '93, & '95 super bowls... and, they are all about stats, but, I had to enlighten them on the true story behind one of the greatest quarterbacks in the NFL, because they were talking smack about Emmitt Smith, Michael Irvin, and the whole cast of talented Dallas Cowboys on both sides of the line... they did not know that Troy went to Oklahoma University as one of the top rated high school quarterbacks in the country. He was going to play in a pro-set offense that Oklahoma was going to move to from the wishbone to accommodate the classical drop back pocket passer. They did, until Aikman got hurt, then, a running quarterback came in and they went back to the wishbone offense and Aikman was relegated to a back-up status. Aikman, dejected, transferred to UCLA sitting out one season. Then, put up monster numbers in two years, and was drafted #1 in the NFL draft by the Dallas Cowboys, playing for Jimmy Johnson. He led the Cowboys to two Super Bowl championships under Jimmy Johnson. Then, Jerry Jones' head exploded leading to the firing of Jimmy Johnson as head coach. Who does Jerry pick to coach the cowboys... Barry Switzer, a man that Troy Aikman hated... In 1995, Troy led the Cowboys to their last Super Bowl ring, playing out the remainder of his career with the Dallas Cowboys... He swallowed his pride and played the game that he loved... Football, baby... That was kind of fun... and, then I brought up my "Sliding-top-30" FB page note... I was only supposed to be on for a few minutes... this topic went on for 30 minutes... I went thru the whole list, one by one... and the reasons for why I selected this one, and, why this one was replaced... Of course, my is saying to me... TMI, TMI, TMI... you are killing me dad... I was on a roll... Some are singers, others actors, two are famous mothers to me... but, they all have a special appeal... After I finished, they asked if I would come back... I said that if they each created a 'sliding-top-30' list with creativity and imagination, that I would come back and give them my 2 cents worth. While I am on the air, my tells me that people are texting in as they are listening... she said they were laughing at my picks and reasons... Thanks for taking the time to read and comment on my blog... I have my moments... I don't know about another career... I was just having fun... In a way, it was like being in cyberspace... because, I could hide behind the mask of the telephone similar to my silhouette here... and, I was able to actually read my note without any pressure and interact with them without worrying about anything... so, from the comfort of my home, I could be 'myself'... and, if they didn't like it, they could have used many excuses to get me off the phone... thanks again... have a great Saturday!!!
