I want an open relationship -- Oops! I didn't mean it.

I was talking to my best friend and he said that his wife (12 years married) asked him about adding some spice in the bed room. He said "Do you mean an open relationship"?, She looked at him, grinned and said "Yes, what do you think?" He told me that he looked her in the eyes and replied "Hell No!" if you are going to do your dirt, I dont want to know about it!!

My question to anyone reading this is - How do you come back from being<b> rejected </font></b>with such a sensitive question like that? Can trust be maintained or since the seed of doubt has been planted, can it ever be regained?
