Pasta Maker

Pasta maker
A raw pasta sheet wide
this is the beginning of me
unmarked and plain
fed into pasta maker of life
the handle cranked
and wheels turning
draw the pasta sheet through
the tight roller press
and the blades
slicing the sheet
into that wonder of life
is it little surprise
often we are amazed
at the shapes of pasta created
or how sometimes it feels
as if life has irrevocably changed us
for good or ill
the past sliced away
changed into a future different
life and time always changing us
as a pasta sheet dragged
through the pressing rollers of life.
