Silence of the Tornado Sirens Just came back from the shelter, such as it is, and the all clear has sounded. The Nazi bombers ... ooops, tornadoes missed us (fingers crossed --- and its damn hard to type that way) for now. Still raining and somewhere between 3 and 9 inches (they upped thee high end just now) due between now and Monday. Oddly enough that isn't the subject of this post. The subject is that there is as of yesterday no police, fire, or ambulance in this burg. No city government at all since they fired the City Manager/Police Chief, Country Clerk, and just about everyone else for gross incompetence, negligence, and playing patty fingers in the till. Just the usual fun for Maybury USA where Andy is tapping the till, Barney is a sadist, Opie is into home invasions, Gomer cooks meth, Floyd is sells weed, and Aunt Bee is a madam. I love peaceful small town life. This is not how I wanted to get fucked. Rain Rain, Go Away. Thankfully, I've never experienced a tornado. You seem to be handling this in stride. If you'd like to send me some of your rain extra water, my grass wouldn't say 'NO, thanks' I grew up with this so while I am wary of tornadoes and don't want to see one, I am also used to them rather like Californians get blasé about quakes until the big one hits. Did I mention the black mold in the kitchen and bathroom cabinets from all the leaks over the last three years? I've been through worse. I actually had to land in a charter flight on a highway and get out in a culvert because of a tornado when I was 16 then wait for a bus to finish the journey home so this is more annoying than scary. Thanks for your concern, but we have been very lucky this week compared to others, just hope that holds out as well as the two feet this place sits off the ground and the fact we are the high point on this street. They dredged out the drainage ditches next door after they flooded twice so at least we don't have to worry about that. Same landlord who is about to get his ass reported. I actually like rainy weather, but when I have some one to stay in with more curves and cuddlier than my housemates. Wow that is really a mess! Just crazy the weather is there hugssss V As long as your safe that is main thing.. You get used to it in this part of the world, though I did suggest to my housemates who are lay ministers that it might be ark building time. The rains came and came and came --- and are still coming tonight. Both roommates are lay preachers and I've given instructions and underlined the parts in the Bible about building arks. Dogwood should make a decent substitute for gopherwood. Me, I'm the officer type (well I am an honorary officer --- just in the British Royal Marine Commando and French Paratroops and not the American services), you remember from the Coast Guard. I thought of it, you go do it. So far they are AWOL. Courts Martial is pending or excommunication from the Internet church that made them ministers or maybe that was exorcism --- I'm an idea man, not a detail man ---- well, save for sex. I am working at getting out of here and have made a little progress this week and should make more next week. I had to do something about the condition of this place and since the landlord won't I've been documenting the condition and taking statements with witnesses how long it has been in this shape. He can complain and bitch, but he hasn't done anything substantial in four years other than replace a water heater and refrigerator including not replacing the furnace and air conditioner for two winters, and you would not believe the collective rent we pay. There is black mold and God knows what else I can't tackle without Hazmat gear, one of my current minister housemates seems to have missed the cleanliness is next to Godliness thing. I'm at the I don't give a fuck point, never a good place for me to get. I still give a fuck about my friends though so take care of that cold, and enjoy your well earned Memorial Day. I salute you, actually sometimes at both ends. It stands at attention too you know. Especially since the Lyrica kicked in and the nerve pain is less annoying.
