Why IS It. . .

Why is it that we still use or have a Sub-set in Transgendered people of Transvestite and Cross Dressers? Are they not describe as being the same?

To a point hey are the same. Only if one is thought to Cross Dress only at home for their wive or girlfriend we consider them as being heterosexual or being a Closet Queen. (Here I am being a generalist, but I do mean the same can be said about women)

Transvestite on the other hand are thought of only as being Gay! By both the Gay and Straight Community. Yet, It is known that many are heterosexual. They have no feelings of being Gay. and then there are some that do have sex with the same gender as they. And Yet the Normal, straight, World, and many Gay people in the Gay Community have the thoughts.. That we ARE ALL Gay!

Of course Years ago a man in Drag was their idea of being Gay and this maybe a reason Transgenders are not really welcome in the community (this does include Transsexuals) Anita Bryant's Rants of years past always showed a man in a dress and called him Bruce. and if your name was really Bruce . . . I am sorry for the problems this caused.

Why is it that we in the Community no longer call Lesbians Dyke's or Bull Dykes or She-He's? They have been a sub-set in the Label Lesbian.

Why is it we even have a Label signaling out woman as being a Lesbian? You go back to the definition of Gay and are they not the Same? Both have sex with members of the same Genders! Is it our way to put a gender to the Labels; Gay and Lesbian?

Many Terms have been though of as degrading. Queer, He-She. She-He Dyke, Bull Dyke. Faggot, Gender-bender along with many others. But even though we say and think they are , we in the community still use them just like Blacks, or to be PC, African Americana, use the "N" word.

Nothing is thought to be wrong when between each other but let someone use the dame word who is an other Race. Hold down the fort a storm going to blow Racist to all!

And Yet, we call each other those words we find offensive. Some in Jest. Others a way to describe. And still other times as a way to be hurtful!
As an example; In Seattle (and probably in other cities) We have a group that participated in the Gay Pride Festival called 'Dykes on Wheels" They are committed to some great efforts in fundraising and recognition. But Really?

Does not the General population not think of, and call ALL Lesbians as such? Same for groups like the Queer Revolution. Fags on parade.Or others. What sort of message are we trying to get across to the General population?
Sure it is a way that we can use those labels in jest to make fun of them. But Really are we doing that. Just like the "N" words It is in Jest between each other and Racist when not issued by one of the same group.
Why is it that our Political group is Called GLBT? It took years before the :T: was added, And why is it that the the "T" means Trans?
Life is short and I like who I am!
