July17,2013 It'a 9:30pm and i just got back from being with luvs in the hospital since monday. He is now out of ICU. He has done some physical therapy and it will take a long time to recover if ever. His left side is much weaker than his right side. He is wearing a halo to keep his neck immobilized so the 1st and 2nd vertebrae will heal on their own. If not then there will be more surgery about 6 months down the road. If that happens then he will lose all mobility in his neck. He is in consent pain and sleeps on and off. He is able to lift both his arms and legs and has use of his hands but he gets very tired easily. He doesn't have a phone in his room and no cell phone. He wouldn't be able to use a phone yet anyway because of the halo. He sat on the edge of his bed for the first time with the help of the physical therapist and it seems to scare him at first but once he found out he could trust them he calmed down. His sense of humor comes out at times and that is a good sign. He doesn't want anyone to do anything for him except me and he cried when i left. I told him all that are praying for him and wishing him the best. He said to tell you all Thank you so much. I will post more when i hear more. Please keep him in your prayers and please, please, please...always wear a seat belt. RG |
