How can you tell?

Ladies, how do you tell if another woman is interested outside the realm of Senior Sizzle? I am talking about women you see on the street... grocery store, mall, random encounters while waiting in line. I see a lady walk by and I wonder.... is she a freak like myself??? I was in Pet Smart picking up grub for my 4legged babies when the cutie on my aisle starting chatting with me. I am the type of person that carries on a conversation with the people waiting in line at the check out so a random conversation is not unheard of in my existence. She was cute... my type... young, tomboy, kinda of butch... but I have no clue if she was flirting or just being social. It felt like flirting but women are so different from men.
A man is easy to tell if he is interested... are you breathing, have tits... he's interested!
But ladies... I have no clue.
I am a freak but I have no radar when it come to spotting like-minded women. I get a lot of responses in this insulated community of Senior Sizzle, it;s why I joined it again but the real world... no clue.
So help me out... ladies how do you tell?

 ha! welcome to the world of working with women! that's right, it's hard to know with women, that's one of the reasons some men are jerks because the signals are often too hard to read.

 I find the same rules apply, albeit more supple. Is she initiating contact, as in skin contact. Is she touching more. Eye contact while speaking kinda says a lot too. But I find touching kinda speaks more. At least for me. I mean, I'm sure there are other signs to look for but I guess I'm just basing it on my experiences. If you're still unsure, just ask her out. For a drink or something. Maybe it'll be easier to tell from there. I met a girl last year from the gym that I go to. Asked her out and still wasn't very sure if she was into me. It was only after 4-5 meet ups for coffee and lunch that we kinda talked about it. Good luck!! It sounds exciting!!
