A Guy Getting In Touch With His Creative Side

Sunday, Sunday in a nutshell:

I caught a few NBA BB games, had a beer, and then went all Martha Stewart on task for the rest of the afternoon...

I decided to get artsy with my craft creativity today by visiting the local M store not far from me. Anyone familiar with this particular place would know instantly of utilizing their good ol' 40% off coupon to save a couple of dollars on HGTV scrapbook type of projects - instead, I was given the other option of a BOGO, which ultimately, after figuring out the math, was considerably a better deal for me in the long run.

My buy was for an acrylic display container - sort of like a very large plastic box one would put those infamous Beanie Babies in from the early 2000's. Except, it was for larger ticketed items like a smaller doll. However, being the guy I was, my idea consisted of using it for a more utilitarian situation, a collection of bobbleheads I had accumulated from baseball and sports games I attended over the years. Unfortunately, a few weeks back, I found this item was completely sold out and in danger of never being available again; after much research, I discovered that it was going on clearance, meaning there was a good chance I'd have to hunt it down frustratingly. If the daylights saving situation already pissed me off, imagine the thought of me taking in the weekend just to rummage through garage sales and the like in order to find a similar piece to show off some piece of ceramic made in China.

Not fun.

Yet, I made a call to the store out of curiosity, and was happy to know a shipment had made its way recently with several on shelf for me to buy. So, today, I bought 2. When I was being rung up, the girl at the cash register asked me what I intended to do with these. I simply told her of my project and she smiled. That's when I chipped in, "See, guys can be creative too!" Definitely, made her day I said that. Guess, not too many men make their way to stores that predominantly cater to the female persuasion. At least at that particular location.

I still need a few more; I intend to display them on shelf, and turn a section of my room into a man cave wall consisting of my marathon finisher medals and other sports memorabilia all organized and within view. Yeah, people have sexual hobbies, and I am very much into that stance. However, when I am out in the open away from swimming under sheets, I like to show I have a hand in these type of fun project excursions as well.

Just don't ask me to paint the walls of your house. I already have enough trouble staying within the lines.

AS someone who has worked now for two "mostly women" shoppers stores...
It is nice to have a creative man in the store.
(I even have a bad habit of saying "Yes Ma'am" to men because they are few and far between)

the last place I worked was BBB... again highly women, but men, had to hold their hands and put their bedrooms/bathrooms and kitchens together for them.
I have decorated many mens places.
Haha, I'm not that bad; I actually enjoy the interior decorating part of me to jazz up my crib and make it look sophisticated and refined. If more men thought in this regard, it would go a long way in demonstrating a guy's imagination isn't always in the gutter
