I enjoy doing a post on something that I love,.....And I do mean Love, even more than I Love Hips, Lips, and Fingertips,.....I like to these Sinners Club post, "The Best of the Beast." .........The first one I did was about "The Last Waltz" The post was titled "One of the Days that the Music Died" and admittedly, it still stands as One of My favorite Sinners Club blog posts. The second one I did was about a cleverly done low budget horror movie frightfest called "The Devil's Rock" In case any of you want to check them out, the first one is on page 8 of this blog, while the second one is located on page 5.......Regardless, I've decided to make The Rolling Stones ground breaking album "Sticky Fingers" Three,.....And So, I Present to You,.....The Third Installment of The Sinners Club Feature,......... -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- THE BEST OF THE BEAST -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|-  .........Released on April 23rd, 1971, The Rolling Stones eleventh studio album "Sticky Fingers" received immediate critical acclaim. Containing such chart topping hits as "Brown " and the country ballad "Wild Horses" as well as the Latin inspired two-part "Can't You Hear Knocking?" The album would #1 on the British Music Charts in May of 1971, and remain there for four weeks, before returning again to the #1 spot for a week in mid June of the same year. The album would also #1 in America on The Bilboard Music Chart, and would also remain there for four weeks. ........."Sticky Fingers" was a first on many levels for The Rolling Stones, it was the first album to Not feature Any contributions from former guitarist and founding member Brian Jones. While also becoming their first album to feature a full length appearance from New Guitarist Mick Taylor, formerly of John Mayall's Blues Breakers. It was also the bands first album to singer Mick Jagger on playing guitar. But perhaps Most Importantly,....."Sticky Fingers" was The Stones first record to be put on the bands new record label, "Rolling Stones Records" as well as being the bands first use of their now Infamous Tongue and Lips logo. .........As the Sixties ground to an end, so to did The Rolling Stones contract with the Decca/London record label. This would leave the band free to be able to release their albums as they pleased, cover art and all. However, soon to be Former Manager, Allen Klein dealt the a and creative blow, when the discovered that they had Inadvertently signed over their Entire Sixties copyrights to Klein's company ABKCO Records. This is how all of the bands material, from 1963's "Come On" all the way to 1969's "Get Yer Ya-Ya's , The Rolling Stones in Concert." is still released on ABKCO Records. When Decca informed The Stones that they were still owed a single, The band submitted the song "Cocksucker Blues" Instead, Decca released the two year old "Beggars Banquet" song "Street Fighting Man" while Klein received dual copyright ownership on "Brown " and "Wild Horses" "Sticky Fingers" two singles. The Stones would remain odds with Klein for Decades afterward.  .........As for the Infamous "Sticky Fingers" album cover, The vinyl release came with a working zipper and mock belt buckle that when opened revealed a pair of cotton briefs. The bands name is printed in red along the image of the belt, While behind the belt the briefs were seemingly stamped in gold, with the name of the American Pop Artist Andy Warhol, which read, "THIS PHOTOGRAPH MAY NOT BE - ECT." While the artwork was conceived by Warhol, the photography was handled by Billy Name, and the designed by Craig Braun. The actual cover model remains unknown, first it was assumed to be Mick Jagger, but Warhol had several different men photographed and reportedly Jagger wasn't one of them. Warhol never revealed the shots he used, but among the candidates are Jed Johnson, Warhol's then lover, his twin brother Jay is a possibility. "Name Factory" designer James Tippin is also a likely possibility, while Warhol "Superstar" Joe Dellesandro insists that he was the actual model. .........Initially the retailers complained that the zipper was causing damage to the vinyl during shipping. The zipper was then partially unzipped to the middle of the record to minimize damages. In Spain however the original cover was censored as offensive, and replaced with the less offense "Can of severed bloody women's fingers" cover. The song "Sister Morphine" was replaced with a live version of Chuck Berry's "Let it Rock" which wouldn't be released until 2005 on the "Rarities 1971-2003" album.  ........."Sticky Fingers" received positive reviews, Robert Hillburn of "The Los Angeles Times" proclaimed it the best rock album of the year. Jon Landau of "Rolling Stone Magazine" gave it Five Stars, Robert Christgau of "The Village Voice" mused that the decadent album may be The Stones best, and Lester Bangs declared that it was his most played album of the year. The album would go on to achieve a Triple Platinum Certification, and was named "The Greatest Album Cover of All Time" in 2003 by the music channel VH1. "Sticky Fingers" has become one of The Rolling Stones best albums to date, and was also a watershed moment for The Greatest Rock&Roll Band in the World. .........On a more personal note,.....When I can listen to an album, twenty years after I initially heard it, and still feel the exact same Excitement and Wonderment that I did that first time, then that's how I know that it's something truly exceptional and undeniably great. Something that has transcended time and remained unchanged, yet Completely Awesome,.....So, if ever You're feeling the Longing for some Down and Dirty, Boogie Woogie, Rock and Blues Stomp, I Strongly Suggest that You give it a listen,.....And, if by chance You don't already own a copy,.....Well then, Run Immediately and Beg, Borrow, Or Steal yourself One,.....And if You do already own it, then You should already be pressing PLAY as I finish writing this,...... What a topic!! I got ticket for their coming concert (Singapore) on March 15, this Saturday. Its a whopping S$700 per ticket sell out concert. Looking forward to rocking it out.

I must confess I haven't ever listened to them, beyond the occasional random song. I just may have to check them out and see if it's as good as you claim.  I sent an Angel to watch over you last night, it returned in a hurry. I asked why, it said "Angels can't watch porn." Thanks for fucking traumatizing my fucking Angel! Don't bother trying to figure me out. Not even the little voices in my head understand me. It's pointless!

[size3]Wow. I like how a can of bloody severed woman's fingers is somehow LESS offensive than a man unzipping his pants. Way to go misogynist a-holes! G-damned spaniards of the times... Super cool music. Makes me want to rummage through my Itunes and see what i have. Pretty sure it's all crap. All my vinyl warped when I left it stacked on my bed one hot summer during a move. Tried to straighten them out with phone books, but most of them cracked. *sigh*

Cool beans. What you said about listening to an album years later and still feeling it? That applies to "Dark Side of the Moon" and almost any Neil Young album for me.  Elevate me...
