~+* A Purple Day
~+* A Purple Day Today is an important day. A time to remember those that have served in our military and have suffered combat related injuries and even death. These injuries follow us through the rest of our lives and are bitter sweet memories. A simple smile, handshake or a quiet thank you makes such a difference. In my community we will be having a ceremony at the Purple Heart monument that was erected so many years ago. I make certain that I am there for it yearly. Are you a recipient of the award ( I am), do you know anyone who is? Take a moment today and remember their sacrifices Each year on August 7th, Americans pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who were either wounded on the battlefield or paid the ultimate sacrifice with their lives. The Purple Heart is awarded to any member of the U.S. Armed Forces that has been wounded or died as a result of a wound in battle. This now includes those persons who died in captivity while a prisoner of war (POW). We now celebrate Purple Heart Day on the anniversary of its inception, August 7th. On this day it is our patriotic duty to remember and recognize those people willing to serve our country, no matter the price. |

It may be a simple ribbon to many but I, for one, Want to thank those who received a Purple Heart for the sacrifices they endured and honor them as they should be honored. As a recipient, although I don't feel deserving, I know what all is involved and those are memories that don't fade. I was one of the lucky ones to come away with no visible scars. Every day I thank the Lord.
