*** The Duke  . So I thought I would recycle one of my previous posts today. I hope you enjoy.I grew up in what I think was a much simpler time. There were good guys and bad guys in the movies. For a little boy, it seemed easier to know what was right and what was wrong. Of course, in my case, at that age I did not know that life was really not that simple. I have been spending time over the last few years watching TV programs with my Godsons and I am realizing, that there is no clear cut hero in their programs. Most of the shows seem to always have a dark side. I have searched around and have not found a clear cut hero. I am introducing more and more John Wayne into their<b> viewing </font></b>time. I work in discussions on how some of the ideas in the movies can not really happen, but they should always try to do what is right and to help others. Am I being too naïve in this time trying to do this? Do you have a TV or movie idol? Yes I can be a curmudgeon,,,,,,,, all little boys should be introduced to John Wayne.!!        |

BRAVO ... Absolutely LOVE John Wayne! ... Should Be A Role Model For Boys But You Will Get Fierce Resistence To That Idea In Todays PC World. The Duke Had Crazy Ideas About God- Family- Honor- Duty- Patriotism And Love For The USA

Loved "The Duke"!!!! Favs are ----- Too many to name. Love any movie with him and Maureen O'Hara (imo-- the most beautiful actress of all time).

Some of his movies reflect the women-as-possessions attitude of his era. I hope you discuss that aspect with the boys. But I do love knowing WHO the good guy is! Opportunity may knock only once, but temptation bangs on the door forever!

The Duke was always one of my heroes. It seems that there is no clear cut good guy and bad guy today. I watched a wonderful show on Cowboys in the movies last night on the American Heroes Channel.They featured the Duke and many others. Great pics! Happy Saturday! The Duke was an awesome man, but I don't remember having a movie idol, maybe some favorite old shows like the Streets Of Laredo, The High Chapparal, my dad used to make us watch all those old westerns. But my favorite was the Lone Ranger!!! Seduce the mind and see what a wonderful adventure the body will take you on..
