*** Modern day of Infamy 9 /11/2001

Today is the 14th Anniversary of a Day that will live in infamy for our generation. It is so difficult to think it has been that long since the cowardly attack by Terrorists against Two locations here in the United States and the thwarting of a third attack by the passengers of an airliner at the cost of their lives. We now have teenagers that were not born at the time of these attacks. My eldest Godson was actually born 13 days after this happened. This generation has no concept of what things were like pre 9/11. For me the decade after 9/11 was the most intense of my military career and personal life, with heart ache, loss of dear friends, ultimately a divorce and it changed me more than anything else in my life. I can no longer watch the Anniversary coverage on TV, it just brings back so many memories and feelings. I think it is important to remember the victims, and the Police, Fireman and others that ran towards the “troubles” while prudent people tried to escape. Unfortunately many of them paid for that dedication with their lives. Of the 2,977 people killed in the September 11 attacks, 414 were emergency workers in New York City who responded to the World Trade Center. This included:
341 firefighters and 2 paramedics from the New York City Fire Department (FDNY);
37 police officers from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police Department (PAPD);
23 police officers from the New York City Police Department (NYPD);
8 emergency medical technicians and paramedics from private hospital units dispatched through the 911 system, as well as commercial ambulance groups brought in under "mutual aid" for this disaster ;
3 New York State Court Officers
Let us take some time, no matter your country of origin and remember these brave souls and pass their legend on to our . And never forget the innocents that died that day.

Timeline of the action that day

Rushing to the incident, while others escaped

Father Mychal Judge, Fire Department Chaplain, who paid the ultimate price for his service that day

Helping rescuers

Twin Towers before

Twin Towers when struck

They are angels amongst us, I truly believe they still look over us

That fateful field in Pennsylvania, a Memorial to the Passengers Courage, avoiding even more deaths

The Pentagon

Teach our about service before self and the true meaning of courage

I make no apologies for what I am about to say. May these people rot in hell for eternity. They violated their own religion and basic humanity. [image]

Thanks for the reminder. It is one of the worst things to happen in our generation. And I agree, may they rot in hell

I hate to think about this terrible tragedy. I become so irate that my thinking is deranged. We were lucky that many were able to flee the towers and did not die that day. The toll could have been many thousands more killed.

Sadly the first responders did not understand the need to avoid going into the collapsing towers. This event was our generation's Pearl harbor attack. This war continues in the drone war in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Pres. Obama deserves credit for making it a priority to have Osama Ben Ladin killed.

Seal Team six deserves credit as well.

I am reminded of this, purported to be from General Norman Schwartkopf (apologies if the spelling is wrong) [image]

The First Responders fully understood the dangers of rushing into the towers, but adhered to the motto "Service Before Self" . Primary credit for getting Ben Ladin is Seal Team Six they went above and beyond [image]

Thank you. It is so sad that we live in this type of world. We should keep the image in our hearts and minds and educate the next generation on the dangers [image]

It seems to be symbolic of the "modern" age of terrorism. Unfortunately people world wide are or have been victims of these cowards [image]

It is the only world you really remember now, and I am certain that you cherish what we have. I may embarrass you and it does bring tears to my eyes,,, those letters that we received from people your age at that time. They were so sensitive, thoughtful and welcome. I wish I could remember how many I read and answered, they were a great comfort in those turbulent times. Thank you and all the others that wrote them. Knowing what I do about you, I am certain you will never forget [image]

I remember that day so well. I was sitting in the 1 star General Office when we heard the news on the TV. My thoughts were OMG was this really happening.
Our one ship returning from the Gulf was just coming in from Hawaii. The big question for us was it turning around and going right back out again to help assist? For all those who we lost let us never forget what happened. hugssssssss V

Pal, I agree may they all be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, and better yet let them suffer they same demise as they cost all of the people that lost their lives. They all still live in our hearts, but that day changed all of our lives forever..

Seduce the mind and see what a wonderful adventure the body will take you on..

    It was a very cowardly and despicable act to say the least. I was living in Richwood, Ohio at the time and was awakened to my wife's terrified screams as she watched it on the news. God bless the survivors and all that died on that horrible day.
I keep the sights in my memory to remember the cowards that did this [image]

Being a bit crude, I could care less about the prosecution, their immediate demise is what I look for. We are changed, these images will stay with us forever. [image]
