Impetent Vs. Impotent (not a law suit) I am in a thankful mood tonight... thinking about the increased sales for Viagra, Cialis, penile implants, and such.... Not yet I pray... of course there is the use it or lose it problem... ummmm maybe for another time.. Tonight I am confused as well As the heading may suggest I have placed two words that to me have very different meanings... at least that is how I remember being told many years (or is it decades) ago. Impetent... well that was the thing us Young guys were afraid of... yes I do remember well ... we were told that if we were naughty boys then one day we would not be able to get it up anymore and we would be impetent... GOD NO... today it is called politely ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION... which basically means we either can not get it up at all or can't keep it up. So medical science (as it has been so biased in the past) came up with a solution (actually several of them ) for MEN... women , sometimes other men, and rarely an animal or two (gross thought to me) benefit from our new ways for men to get it up and keep it up. Prise God and medical science...lol The second word is Impotent... take away him i am sorry IM and you get potent.. well most of us know what potent means... a STIFF drink, or 6 table spoons of instant coffee in our 12 ounce cup... or that person down the street (please stay there) who forgot to bath since 1999... yes these are all potent things... but it also accounts for having enough quantity and enough strong sperm to make the long and endless journey through our exceeding long (or short) penis and travel down a dark tunnel without light to puncture and egg that they can not see... I hope I have that right (hey an Idea... maybe fiber optic vaginal lights or ones that attach along the side of the penis to help those little things swim... oh yea ... they have to swim... well we need a new invention for that as well. Anyway Im_potent means those little things called sperm were ether DOA... or malformed from the get go (no snorkel and fins I presume) or actually no n existent for some guys... so these men have the distinction of being called IMPOTENT. anyway that is how I remember it... Now the try to say sterile... but that is not accurate.... but the news and others seem to just want to use one word Impotent to describe it all... I should not be surprised in the last 20 years news reporters have been using words that are so inaccurate as to boarder on lying and not just stretching the truth ... all in the name of journalistic license... to get rating I presume.... One day I will write about the over abuse of words like Tragedy and dramatic, and many others that are so misused they have lost their impact on the public and their meaning to the English language. For those who read my dribble in various places (and soon to be a Web site I might add and a national exposure I hope) you know ... or at least I hope you know ... I try to chose my words carefully.... words are my only tools with all of you who will never talk to me.... I am actually a good orator... and I also did a great deal of theater in the past... so I appreciate not only the words.... but their deliver in tone and in inflection and in the subtle pauses for effect... that is why many times I use... again I use... correct 3 dots or more for pause... hopefully you read it that way as well. Well since my spelling sucks as my dear friend that mad scientist has informed me (and I corrected her and told her no.. it is actually atrocious) I will at least try to use it here in the Blog... who knows maybe it will even read better if it looks better.. or was that bitter... hummmm will spell check fix that for me too Thank you all and till next time...
