Another job I really hope to get!
Yesterday afternoon I went on a walkabout on a hint from my friend Haley, one of the outgoing coordinators of the Women's Centre. She told me that Theatre Nova Scotia was hiring. So I found their address on Marginal street near the Halifax Farmers Market. I introduced myself to the man who was there. He took my resume, told me that they were not hiring, but that I should go over to Halifax Dance because they are hiring.

He pointed me to the Maritime Building, and Halifax Dance was on the bottom floor. I walked in and met a pretty young girl named Sarah, told her my story, and gave her my resume. Basically I outlined my education: Chemical-Physics, Modern Dance, Education, Philosophy, and Computer Science, and also told her about my activities with the Dal Women's Centre and its board, as well as the Dyke and Trans March planning committee, and the Hottimes Halifax committee. The last two I referred to as a couple of groups from the Rainbow community. She seemed interested, and impressed and said she would pass the resume to Alicia.

After I got home, I went to the Halifax Dance website, found the job description, and then this morning I wrote a cover lettre. Then I went to the Women's Centre to print the cover lettre and a sheet of references. Finally I walked down to the Maritime building and found that Alicia was in, and could spare me about two minutes. So I gave her my little speech. She assured me that equivalent experience would be adequate.

Tomorrow I will be going to visit at the Ecology Action Centre to say hello and just check in. I had taken my resume, cover lettre, and references there on Monday this week. Either one of those jobs I could really sink my heart into.
