picked up the pieces

I have always adored the way she picked up the pieces and went on with her life… Survival looked very good on her… There was no hatred left in her voice, no dark marks under her eyes, there was a sense of peace that had been long forgotten… You could see in her eyes, when she spoke to you and laughed about life… She went through hell with grace, she walked over glass, was burned by fire and humiliated herself in acts of vengeance, but she came out the other side a better person from it… Scars on your body showed that you lived a good life and scars on your heart showed that you once loved deeply… Speaking for myself; I was happy that she walked away and was not broken enough to look back… We would’ve spent a lifetime trying to fix something that not meant to be, no matter how happy we were at one time.
