I remember the days of no counter space. My kitchen table got used for more than eating back then. Opportunity may knock only once, but temptation bangs on the door forever!

I walk TWO dogs (at the same time) so yeah, it is not exercise! Getting healthy TOGETHER - sure, that works as a premise for spending time together, if you really need one. Best wishes with the move, sorry I'm too far away to help. If you put a bowl of white vinegar in each room, it will absorb the kitty odors...and the vinegar smell will quickly disappear once you remove the bowls.
| ||
|
You can also put some open containers (like a styrofoam cup) half filled with bleach.

I, too, am in the throes of moving and my new kitchen has counter space of sorts but not convenient. I am going to invest in a rolling island which will make processing jam,jelly, and fall produce much easier. As for sore body, yesterday was yard sale day and the process of setting it up and taking down the leftovers for Goodwill has left me with soreness as well. This too shall pass (Virtual Symposium Group) use Virtual Symposium Group

that's what landlords are for- to remove pesky smells

The bleach actually evaporates quickly and removes the offending odours at the same time. Since I am not a coffee drinker, I don’t have coffee grounds at my disposal. Good luck with the rest of your move.

You make me look forward to retirement. I've got a ways to go, but I'm nearing single digits in years to go. Thoughts from the Garden...

RE: Cat urine smell, As a cat roommate for 58 years, I can give you a few tips. IT isnt possible to eradicate that odor 100%, not even from concrete or steel! If you have carpet in the rooms the cats were in, pull it, and toss it, no hope to take that cat urine out, period. If you have wood floor under that carpet, two options, get a floor sander, and sand off the top layer of wood, & varnish, and re-seal, or if underlayment, pull it up and replace it. OR seal the entire surface of wood/underlayment, with liquid acrylic, best to sand tween multiple coats too ! If concrete (basement) or metal, GOOD LUCK! Concrete will absorb cat urine, and short of taking multiple layers off the concrete surface, the only real remedy is to REMOVE the concrete !!!! Steel, and many other metals, also absorb cat urine, and I have never heard of a way to make it go away, other than replacement. I recently had two such experiences. My last cat, that I lost in August '18, had slowly developing kidney & bladder failure, and she was leaking urine where ever she slept, which in her last days was next to her food bowl, When I moved, I had to replace carpet, underlayment, AND strip about 1/4 inch off the concrete below the underlayment. A $300 bill just to do a 4ft sq area !! When I moved from NOLA after my separation, we had to tear up the linoleum, and then strip over a 1/4 inch off the concrete below that, because one cat had been peeing next to litterbox, rather than in it. We were cleaning it up after her constantly, but had no idea it was soaking into the linoleum, much less the concrete! This is WHY landlords want such large pet deposits, dog urine almost as bad I al told! I have 2 cats now, had to pay TWO pet deposits for them, totalling $600, which I doubt I will get back when I move, even tho mine are so far using just their litterbox! GOOD LUCK !!

Sorry about the cat smell - hope it's only a temporary issue! If it seems to be lingering permanently that probably means that urine soaked into the floor, and then, as someone else mentioned, it's the landlord's problem. I had a kitty that had an issue with peeing other places than the litter box - this was in a coop apartment that I owned. After I sold it and moved out, once it got hot and humid the odors really emerged...I ended up having a big chunk of money held out of my proceeds to pay for pulling out the carpet and doing remediation.

Didn't realize the issue was so pervasive. Indeed that is a much better solution. Good luck with the rest of your move.

I've been in pain recently just 'stepping out' My foot is getting worse due to my on-going Ankylosing Spondylitis (lot of bone related stuff going on). I'm glad things are moving along nicely for you.
