Meaning of a FWB

So anyway, off the back of my last blog there was a suggestion that we should redo FWB to PFWB, adding platonic onto the beginning. I think this is a great distinction, as soon as it stops being platonic you're probably moving out of the friend area and into a new area, perhaps a relationship. This could be the beginning of something awesome or the end of something good.

Anyway, a FWB to me, is just what it says on the tin, it's a friend, with benefits. Meaning in this case that it's someone with whom you share sex but remain just friends. To me this means that primarily the relationship is one of friendship and friends are people you enjoy spending time with and are there for you when you need them. They are people that will tell you you're being a dick when you need to be told. What I think it shouldn't be though, is someone you only meet up with for sex, I think that's something different. I guess a mistress for those that are attached and meeting for sex.

Tieing this back to monogomy for a moment, I would happily have PFWBs but would be less inclined to have a mistress. As assuming your partner is not keen on an open relation ship, having a mistress involves sneaking behind their back, and it's too emotionally attached (usually) to be safe. However, just visiting a friend and you pass the time with sex as much as you would chatting or playing games, I see no issue with.

Okay, I waffled a bit more than I intended but I think I got my point across. I'd love to hear other peoples view points on this topic though.

Lol, I like that phrase, "borrowing each other". That's the kind of friends I wish I had, perhaps it's easier to initiate as a female member of the species? It's good to know I'm not alone in my view
