It must get quite bad for me to take a sick day. I usually keep going, because I cannot afford not to work. Too bad! But every now or then I allow myself a sanity day.
Hope you feel better soon, Here... have a massage...
Healing kisses,

Hey J I hope your back is feeling better.

Having been retired since 2015, I guess my last sick day was probably 2013 /4, when I was living in Germany

Sleep well

I try to take what I call a "mental health" day a few times a year. Of course with all the extra time off due to the virus I haven't had to do it yet this year.

Elevate me...

I'm sorry that you had trouble sleeping but Mondays are great day for a 'mental health' day. Everyday is a day for me ... have I mentioned how much I love retirement? (don't hate me. lol)

I will speculate that- between our Pandemic and electoral mayhem- you are as stressed-out as the rest of us. My lower back is susceptible to stress-induced tightness, during which time I am literally calculating my every physical movement as if I am choreographing a pas-de-deux, so as not to tweak my spine.

Let's hope the pressure starts to lift tomorrow night. Meanwhile, if your back can tolerate it, work the kinks out with a foam roller or (better yet) some yoga balls. And remember, IB and aspirin are your friends!

If you have sick days, I say use them!
I've been retired for 14 years, so sick days are a thing of the past. I don't think I get "me days"!

I honestly cannot recall the last time I took a sick day - maybe never since moving here 22 years ago.

Hope you feel better soon.

I hope your back gets to feeling better. I can not remember when I had a day off from work since I haven't worked since 2010. The time change did not help with me at all . It's 9:00 pm here and I so much want to go to bed but if I do I will be up all night. I just wish they would leave it at one time.

im retired I have not had a day off since lololol
no I take it easy on Sunday if I can.
I stay up to 1130pm most days I sleep like a rock so I wake around 630am
fall back to sleep wake again around 730 am then in bed turn on my ipad read blogs like your this morning and others till 830am then out of bed after I enjoy myself and my day begins.
I have back trouble what I do and it helps is stretching in bed bring your knees to your chest hole for 60 seconds. then drop your feet to the bed bring your knees back and down 30 times. stretch your legs out bring your knees back to your chest 30 times. knees bent turn them to the left then all the way to the right 20 times. last legs straight out lift your feet 10''+ arms at your side and count to 10 but them down then again to 20 … last step feet on your floor raise your knees to our chest back to the floor 20 times you well work on your core muscle it will help your back do for me and I do 3 times the amount then I wrote now. yes yoga would be your answer also.

Miss K In a few years you will , like me ( and others) be able to double the amount of vacation time, take 2 hours off for lunch and only work when you want to. It is a fine life, I think every one should experience it.. OH, I think I will take next week off, I may not feel like i would be productive, !!!!
The not sleeping thing does continue, even for me once in a while I develop acks and pains and have one of those restless nights, I guess if you fight it it just make it worse just try to relax and know that all will be better soon..
The new time, it takes many days for me to get used to it, and for some reason there will be one clock that never gets set. That is a hassle.
Hope you are feeling better. Rest, relax and just be safe...

What a coincidence... Today was THAT day for me. I've been fighting something for a week now and I needed a break.

I had the Covid. Ironically, I worked through it even though I felt like crap. I didn't inform my employer until I felt better, and they made me take 4 days off. These were Covid sick days, so I still kept all my PTO.

The fall time change is not a huge deal for me as far as being tired goes. The spring forward one as an affect for about a week.

Do you do core strengthening exercises to help your back?

I used to be quite proud of my work attendance. Sure there would be a couple of days off now and then with a heavy cold or flu but I'd stay at home so as not to infect the entire office rather than not being capable of working.

However I had an enforced couple of days off after getting two wisdom teeth out - I wasn't allowed to drive for 24 hours having been given some kind of heavy sedation.

Sometimes an extra day away from work is just needed ! The time change thing is stupid there is only so much light during the day and if it occurs earlier or later in the day it dosent offset the difficulty it poses for some .

I hope you feel better soon my friend, and it's been a long time since I have taken a day off from work as my job is pretty much 24-7. Enjoy your break from work, and catch up on your rest..

I didn't call in sick much. But I would take a couple days a year. I don't remember when the last time I did was. I retired with almost 600 hours. They did do towards my retirement.

I’m glad you were able to get some rest. As for a “real” sick day...about 3 years ago now. I had some food poisoning that lasted a day. Other than that, I just take vacation. Knock on wood, I’m rarely sick. Every time there is a holiday weekend, I try to take at least the Friday before off. I’m going to extend my time at Thanksgiving and Xmas this year. (I’m ahead on my work for the moment. Nice to be in my second year of this beast of a job, so I have my routine working for me now.) One of these days, I’m going to want to share a meal with you...one of those big batches of soup that you make...sounds warm and snuggly this time of year. Happy Tuesday MissK.

I am trying to remember when I last took a sick day... it was either Jan of 2017 or 2018. I truly can't remember. I am rarely sick, for which I am thankful. I always feel guilty for being sick... strange I know...

When I was at my first position with this company I was on the phone and talking most of the day. One spring I had lost my voice and kept trying to go back to work and my Supervisors kept sending me home, until I was finally ordered by my Manager that she did not want to see me for at least a week and was very firm with her demand.

I was hoping to go back to my volunteering at the Red Cross shop this month but the second lock-down started today (Thursday).
To be honest, it would be a killer going back with my leg still not right.

Thankfully, I don't get ill very often. I typically just convince myself that I am not sick. However, I was sick with Covid in late March/early April (mild symptoms for the most part), so I was out of the office for about 2 and a half weeks. I think it is important to take a mental holiday just for yourself once in a while.

    Quoting  :

I have a hard enough time using up the vacation I get each year.... and the company buys out our sick time at the end of each year. So not using it is not a bad thing.

I'm retired now....back injury (Purley Holistic brand Turmeric on Amazon... a god send). But before that, I had gone 6 yrs without a sick day. Stupid me because I walked in one Monday to be handed my hat after 25 yrs.

Hope you're doing better.

Actually I stopped by to confess that I too miss kissing. I've kissed two "tens" in my life time. Would give serious money to find one more before my days end. The first was Miss USA's daughter. OMG, we spent hours making out. Do people still do that anymore?
