U.S. notice to withdraw from WHO

Another reason vote for Biden in November:

The Trump administration has formally notified the United Nations that the United States is withdrawing from the World Health Organization, officials said Tuesday, cutting off one of the organization’s biggest sources of aid amid a pandemic that has infected more than .6 million people, killed more than a half a million, and upended life around the world.

“The United States’ notice of withdrawal, effective July 6, 2021, has been submitted the U.N. secretary general, who is the depository for the W.H.O.,” said a senior administration official.

By law, the United States must give the organization a year’s notice if it intends to withdraw, and meet all the current financial obligations in the current year.

Mr. Trump, whose response to the pandemic has drawn criticism, first announced that he planned to halt funding to the W.H.O. in April, claiming that the organization had made a series of mistakes as it battled the coronavirus.

His move to withdraw drew immediate criticism. Senator Lamar Alexander of Tennessee, a Republican who is the chairman of the Senate’s health committee, said that he disagreed with the president’s decision.

“Withdrawing U.S. membership could, among other things, interfere with clinical trials that are essential to the development of vaccines, which citizens of the United States as well as others in the world need,” he said in a statement. “And withdrawing could make it harder to work with other countries to stop viruses before they get to the United States.”

The nation cannot withdraw until next year, after the presidential election. Former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr., the presumptive Democratic nominee, said on Twitter that he would rejoin the W.H.O. “on my first day as President.”

The president of the United Nations Foundation, Elizabeth Cousens, said in a statement that the administration’s “move to formally withdraw from the W.H.O. amid the greatest public health crisis that Americans and the world have faced in a century is shortsighted, unnecessary, and unequivocally dangerous.”

At a time all over the world when we should be helping one another I see this as a monumental affront to all nations. And a major disaster for not finding a vaccine

just in case he hasnt killed enough people while president
with COVID-19,

now hes trying to kill people while biden is president
from COVID-20 or COVID-21, etc,

probably to try to run again in 2024.

Even the GOP is not dumb enough to try Trump again in 2024 if he loses in 2020.

but TRUMP is dumb enough. and egomaniacal enough.

especially if he thinks the replicant party "betrayed" him.

if there are americans anywhere who hate anything or anyone,
and there sure are plenty, and very aggressive ones at that,
hell find a way to appeal to them.

this holocaust may not be over for some time to come.

I hope not. Lots of people will crawl naked over broken glass to vote against Trump.

    Quoting redmustang91:
I hope not. Lots of people will crawl naked over broken glass to vote against Trump.
im with you on this one 100%.

and yet, there are still people who inexplicably will do the same
to vote FOR him.
look at how much more laden with insults and threats
his supporters posts are
than those of those who would prefer to move on.

its the frustrated closet-bullies who find their "strength"
hiding in the mob-mentality behind the skirts of the BIG bully.

but even after the election, what we should also fear
is how the simplest-minded of them
may violently seek to exact "revenge"
against those they feel "wronged" trump.

when they take to the streets, wait and see, all of a sudden
they will turn from defending the police to accusing them
as they riot and vandalize against "the liberal commies".

god, i hope im wrong about that,
but its not hard to see it coming, is it?

He also instructed whatever health departments he has control over to effectively buy up the world supply of remdesvir, effectively cutting off access to one of the most successful treatments for covid19 to the rest of the world. He is blindly hoping that doing so will curtail the number of deaths in the US while showing the people of america how wonderful a saviour he is for them.

Personally, I believe that is probably one of the more disgusting acts he has committed since Jan 2016.

I'm hoping that with his continuing fall from grace, particularly in the polls, that more and more Reps will turn against him (in the interests of saving their own skins of course).

I understand remdesvir has not shown to decrease deaths, but that may be an issue of when it is given in the timeline of infection.
