Obstacle course

The world keeps getting stranger. No, I don't mean our crazy President. People keep doing stranger things on the road.

Yesterday I saw too many bizarre things driving to and from work.

An old woman pushing a old man down the road in a wheelchair, in the slow lane of the street. At least she was in the slow lane. There was a nice sidewalk ready for her, but that was not in her plans.

Then the young woman crying in the walkway leading to CVS pharmacy. Not begging, not requesting help. Just crying. A pretty twenty something woman. I said good morning and passed by as she did not seem interested in specific help.

Then the roped off area for car traffic, and the flashing traffic lights creating a snarl of congestion. An hour later gone. No explanations.

The normal shopping carts of recycled bottles and cans in a parade down the sidewalk.

The neighborhood twenty something male beggar with a sign seeking money, who claims to be homeless, but has a I phone, backpack and takes breaks to snack on fast food.

There are programs to feed and house people. The Salvation Army and Goodwill have effective programs for example.

I want to retain compassion but I don't want to give money for drugs and to incentive begging on the streets.

The world is strange and getting stranger.
