Obama gave a good speech and set forth a populist vision to improve the lot of middle class people. Most of the agenda will not get through Congress. So why bother?

Lots of reasons. Many ideas that take decades to occur start with proposals that are<b> rejected. </font></b>Look at the long battle for health insurance. Most civilized places have had this benefit since 1950! We should have just extended Medicare for everyone. But bankruptcy from medical bills is falling.

Congress will finally realize they cannot override an Obama veto. So they need to deal if they want to pass anything major. Or the GOP can do nothing and cement their rep as the party of no... And then die a nasty death in 2016.

The Hispanics and Asians want immigration reform. No GOP candidate can win the presidency while losing the Black, Brown and Yellow vote, along with women and gays.

There are not enough old White men in the Midwest and South to elect a GOP president.

So keep it up GOP. Then Hilary Clinton wins in 2016 along with a Democratic Senate....

Which loser will get the chance to lose again? Jeb Bush? Mitt Romney? Or a real right winger like Ted Cruz? The GOP primaries will probably kill off anyone electable...

The US economy keeps improving and finally someone will notice that was not due to the GOP. Given the track record of the GOP it is amazing they win anything.

The American public can be sold dumb stuff for so long and then they wake up...

So GOP keep trying to deport Hispanics and kill the Dreamers. That will kill your chances in 2016. Shut down the DHS right as the Paris plotters continue to seek terror attacks in Europe and the US. That shows true leadership...
