Someone explain this to me

So what the fuck is it with High School?

Why is it that certain people seem to finish their life at high school? Let me elaborate. Just this week I had one of the guys I work with ask me how things were going back home. When I told him I don't give a shit he was surprised. Look I moved away from home more than twenty years ago. True I lived there for a couple of spots in that time but I don't give a shit about home.

He wanted to know what the farm back home ended up doing after high school and I told him I couldn't tell him. I told him honestly I don't think about high school all that much. And looking from the outside you could say that I had a pretty good high school life. I played sports quite well and was involved in almost all extracurricular activity short of music and choir.

But there is a portion of this world that seems to adore thinking back to those days. Living in those years if you will. What the fuck? This affliction seems to predominately hit our neighbours to the south. Looking at the media and movies coming out of the US you would think that life is just one crushing development after another after high school.

For me, my best days are in front of me. They always have been. If you cant get up in the morning and think that today is going to be the greatest day of your life then don't get up. I know that some of you will say the whole reason I am sour on high school is because I didn't get laid. That isn't the case. But they are right, I didn't get laid in high school. But if you are to judge your life by when you were getting laid I would still be in a shitty marriage or two.

I blame the media. They made high school seem fun. I was okay with high school but I never wanted to go back to that time. I'd go back to elementary school for recess, that's about it though.

Like you said it was fun when I was there, it is over now, some I do keep in touch with a few because we were friends outside of high school but really it is over, I feel like Facebook have a lot to do it with now, I get so many join the 1985 grad class group, ugh, I don't go on facebook much only to try and find a friend I lost contact with, after that I just play the games, If going back to my high school days help with my career sure but it doesn't so blow off and move to the here and now.

I had a terrible time in high school. I'm surprised I even finished it with a diploma. Oh and I never got laid either In spite of all this though, I find that I do miss those days sometimes. It's more like missing a general sense of the glorious, carefree days of youth though. Before you get out into the world and discover how it really works.

I think you have a remarkable attitude; the best days are in front on you. That's really cool.
