Thoughts about male anal play This is an attempt to try and organize some thoughts I had earlier today. Hopefully nobody is offended by some of the word choices. I tend to be very frank, so please don't get triggered or whatever. So, I was at the adult store today looking at the vast variety of anal toys they had, and I got to thinking about men enjoying anal . There is an entire class of toys that are collectively called "prostate massagers." While a lot of them vibrate or move in some way, most are actually fairly small in length and girth and don't resemble a penis at all. Most seem to market to men who identify as "straight." The packaging doesn't refer to "ass" or "anal" in most cases. I find this all to be very interesting and somewhat humorous for a number of reasons. 1. All require insertion into the anus to stimulate the prostate. That's where it is located. So, at the end of the day, you're sticking something up your ass to get off no matter how you identify. 2. I think for "straight" men the term "prostate massager" is just more palatable. Some people think that a man using a dildo or butt plug is "gay," but prostate a massager seems to be a more acceptable and safe - even though it still goes up your ass. 3. Seems like the majority of PM's don't normally move in and out in a fucking motion, so you're technically not getting "butt fucked" and still have the plausible deniability of still being "straight." 4. Having these toys be smaller and not resemble a penis probably also makes them less intimidating and more appealing to "straight" men. But if they enjoy this, sure many would also derive pleasure from a dildo or plug. I think a lot of men get hung up on how they identify. For many, being "not gay" is the only acceptable sexual identity. There's PLENTY of societal pressure in this regard. It can come from family, friends, community, religion... a number of influential sources. It starts at an early age as homophobic teasing and dissing each other, and gets into bullying and questioning someone's sexuality in front of others by calling them "faggot" or "queer" to make them seem lesser. It can even escalate into violence and more. So, in light of these societal pressures and shame, we do everything we can to assure ourselves and the world that we are 100% straight. Enter the "prostate massager." (Pun intended) Let's all say this together: If you are a male and enjoy anal , THAT DOESN'T MEAN YOU ARE GAY. If you want to ride a big dildo because it feels good or satisfies some kink you have, then fucking GO FOR IT. Don't beat yourself up about it - "Oh shit, am I gay now? Am I bi?" Just be yourself. Nobody's asking you to publicly declare "I LIKE STICKING THINGS UP MY BUTT!" at the next large gathering you attend. It can be your secret, but don't let it be a shameful secret. And don't let it limit you trying or enjoying something. If you decide it's not for you, check it off your bucket list and try something else. You might have a lot of fun in the process! |
