Changes and Choices

Don't assume you know someone just from what you see on the surface. This applies t.o members on this site, a neighbour, a work colleague, a friend or any other place you may encounter people. Often, you have no idea what goes on behind someone's closed doors or what they have chosen t.o share or not t.o share with others. Trust often is a factor in their choice.

Trauma is something that happens t.o. you. Whereas healing is proactive. You have t.o be aware of it, believe it is within your span of control and actively choose t.o do something about it.

Ever find yourself gazing around and wondering, "Hmmm, I wonder what their story is?".I know I have.

True...
I hope whatever you're going through passes.

Indeed.

It is those stories that churn beneath their surfaces that make people endlessly fascinating. For those of us who enjoy unraveling these mysteries, the challenge is to build the friendship and trust necessary to draw people out. Although it is often tedious and frustrating, I have found the rewards- authentic glimpses into amazing life-stories- to be more than offsetting.

Understanding that trauma is part of life (and not minimizing it!) is critical. As Frederick Douglass wrote, "If there is no struggle, there is no progress."

There is a difference as well between " move on" and "go forward" and knowing what is going to help be the move proactive for yourself

It reminds me of a tootsie pop. The treasure is at the centre. Sometimes we are impatient to get to it, but the tune and effort are worth the reward. Thanks for sharing the quote.

We often don’t know unless we make the effort to scratch below the surface and if they are willing to share. Hope you are having a great weekend.

Yes I agree. Those of us who have successfully been through “stuff”, know the difference.

So very true and how often do we forget this, how often are we to quick to judge others? I love the quote. When faced with trauma we all do it differently. To be honest with you I try my best to stay as positive as I can. But after 7 months I have to admit I'm am so very frustrated. I need to know what is going on and none can tell me. That is driving me crazy, I want to go back to work and they won't allow it that is driving me nuts. I've gotten to the point where I hate texting. When I tell someone you know it's nice to hear a voice every now and then and it goes over their head I just shake my head. Then I stop and think about those who haven't made it and I realize how fortunate I am. Great post!!!

I can't imagine the difficulties you have been through. It's wonderful that you are still 'fighting the good fight' and can see the glimmer of good. Keep going and you will make it!

As the old adage goes..."don't judge a book by its cover"!

I hope all is well in your world Sexyldy. If you ever feel the need to talk just say the word.

Yes, there are many sides to people; often not all are revealed unless they choose to share them. Like many, the pandemic is taking its toll but I am finding ways to cope.

We just have to play "52 Pick-Up Sticks" and move on. The other alternative isn't a pretty one ... *hugs hugs*
