Being Vulnerable Does Not Mean You Are Weak

A friend sent that image . They sensed I was feeling a little down because of recent disappointments and challenges. They encouraged me open and talk about what was bothering .

It also made think about what being vulnerable means.

Being vulnerable can be scary. But, it’s also a powerful and authentic way '' live. It takes strength and bravery. There’s always a possibility of being hurt, among other things.

Vulnerability is often seen as a weakness. Deciding '' put yourself 'out there' is the opposite of being weak.

Being vulnerable means yourself thoroughly, and being honest about how you feel. You don’t close yourself off any emotion, because vulnerability means whatever may come, and expressing that openly.

Being vulnerable involves uncertainty, risk and emotional exposure. Being vulnerable isn’t the choice we have make. The choice is how we respond when confronted with those elements of vulnerability.

I am sharing this as a reminder everyone that every time you allow yourself be vulnerable, you actually empower yourself.

Do you allow yourself to show your vulnerability? How do others react?

Selena Gomez - "Vulnerable"

If I gave you every piece of me, I know that you could drop it
Give you the chance, I know that you could take advantage once you got it
If I open up my heart to you, I know that you could lock it
Throw away the key and keep it there forever in your pocket
If I gave the opportunity to you, then would you blow it?
If I was the greatest thing that happened to you, would you know it?
If my love was like a flower, would you plant it, would you grow it?
I might give you all my body, are you strong enough to hold it?
If I show you all my demons
And we dive into the deep end
Would we crash and burn like every time before?
I would tell you all my secrets
Wrap your arms around my weakness
If the only other option's letting go
I'll stay vulnerable, yeah

my esttranged wife is a basket case of emotional damage , she is vulnerable all the time to almost anything .It killed our marriage .Her past destroyed her ability to open herself up to a man and be intimate .I could not bond with her she blocked every attempt or it went nowhere ,or it was lousy .We had very little sex in 4 yrs , none in the last 9 months of our first year together ? wtf i get rejected by my own new wife constantly .Thats not right nor acceptable .she is now getting some help .but it will take years to fix her messed up thinking /feeling .I am old I cannot wait ,she lied about it when i asked if we would have issues since i noticed some while dating .vulnerability in some people leads to serious emotional imbalance and ruined communication . I was devastated and she gets a divorce now .SHe has to become a whole person on her own not be a codependant like her family made her .It will be best for us both in the end ,she said I was vulnerable now too ,ha I barely have emotions And am never open to anyone unless i decide . On to better things . ,i pray she heals and can have a normal loving intimate relationship with the right guy in the future. She was not a good match for me . keep the emotions in check and use logic it makes for a better life .

Easy,
'Comfortably numb' - what a great phrase to capture the essence.
Thank you for once again, finding the perfect song to accompany your response.
Take care and be safe!

Thanks for sharing that, I guess we have all felt that way at one time or another in the end I think that it can make one feel stronger or maybe more able to cope with life and hopefully enjoy life as coping is really only a strategy.

I think people often fight showing their vulnerability for the reasons I listed. I agree it can be a very freeing experience. Thank you for stopping by.

Not much of an answer and one I disagree with.
