So, if I were to Gigil you and then actually did it would you . . . giggle? When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

One of the great joys of reading, traveling and listening is savoring the infinite delights of languages. Humans are by nature reductionists and it is a cultural *tell" to have a complex thought distilled down to a couple of syllables. Fascinating (and pragmatic) histories undoubtedly underlie many of the words and phrases you have highlighted. Personally, I love schadenfreude and use it with some regularity. In my travels in the Alaskan wilderness, I have benefited from iktusarpok, avoiding an extended winter navigation exercise by having someone from my destination walk a couple miles to intercept me on the main trail.

Thanks for the language lesson. I'm still trying to pronounce the Yaghan word... In the meantime, I feel a gigil building up...

Never heard of tartle before - I must use that one more often. I think there is a need to introduce ohnosecond which is the very short amount of time between pressing "send" and realising you just sent the potentially offensive text/email to the wrong person.

I absolutely loved this!!! Words can make or break you when you have no clue as to what they really mean. Let's try " hovno", "paska", "cac", "dritt", "cachu" just for fun- any guesses? (Virtual Symposium Group) use Virtual Symposium Group

Mamihlapinatapai (Yaghan language of Tierra del Fuego) - That special look shared between people, when both are wishing that the other would do something that they both want, but neither want do. ( No wonder there's no word for it, Good luck pronouncing THIS one! I think the word in English should be "JustDoItG-damnit." ) My word for this? anunflickeredspark... pronounced best with a German accent. Thoughts from the Garden...

I love your list of words Jules. Your curiosity and creativity is what makes your writing so thoughtful and beautiful. I am thinking that when someone sees you walking down the street, if they feel Gigil when they see you up live and in person? *wink* (just trying to use the word in a sentence.) Bud Always Ready for Fun.
