 I think there is definitely a difference although it is a feeling which is very hard to quantify.

All I can say is that I have done carnal fucking - when I was super turned on and into the moment with someone who felt the same way. But somehow it never has the same depth or creates the same memories which comes with total passion. That erotic urge which comes with a deep mental connection, (whether that be love, or some other type of understanding altogether) is passion of a completely different kind, adding a dimension I can't adequately describe. It is that combination of mental, emotional and physical arousal all working together at once.
