The protein shake don't sound like a too bad and idea, however, I'm a big naysayer on soy products esp since 90% of all soy, at lest in the USA, is a Monsanto product shipped from Brazil largely. I do suspect, slightly, that I may have a smidgen of hypothyroidism, it does run in my family, as does diabetes too!

Yes, I know exactly what you're going through. Since starting my diet, every time I go to the doctor I'm doing worse. Still haven't lost any pounds, which pisses me off. And I got woozy at one of my exercise classes. Good luck, on with the battle!!!!
Actually, I'd doing pretty good, I mean usually for the winter I'd be 220-225 lb's, now this winter I actually went below 200, but my surgery was a major factor in that, once the pain was gone, or I should say, the extreme pain gone, I gained it back, but only to 215. I'm pretty sure I'm about 210 or so now....and spring is coming/here, and I hunt mushrooms like its no ones business...lots and lots of walking, and knocking the occasional dead tree down. Some more tone and about 190-195 is my optimal weight for my body, any less and I start too look too skinny, well at least to myself! Oh yeah, the daily vitamins and stuff has helped!

And good luck to you as well Sweets! Onward indeed!

I think the real question is: How do I keep the weight off?

The only way to maintain a healthy weight, in my experience, is to make permanent lifestyle changes, i.e. get used to consuming 2,000 -2,500 cal/day for the rest of your life. Unless you're an endurance athlete, there's no reason to eat more.
That's more or less my main premises of this "diet" to make permanent, but I swear a slight deviation, even for a week and I can tell that fast, its crazy! It was fast and easy putting it on, getting it off and keeping it that way, eh, not so easy!

Omg you're a mess. Several small meals a day, please. Like four, more towards the daytime than at night. Think of it like putting gas in the car. You put gas in the car before you go somewhere. Why fill up the tank before parking in the garage? Get it? And here's a visual: sumo wrestlers eat big meals then go take a nap so they can keep the weight on.
I"ve been kind of having a decent sized lunch, then a smaller dinner, I can't eat breakfast and physically function afterwards, I've always been that way. I finally linked the eating, plus crashing afterwards equals weight gain, but only recently have I implemented avoiding doing so.

No, my philosophy is: I was fine, until I walked into a clinic/hospital. I took a "once daily," and ate right afterwards, I'll see how it all pans-out in the end.

Thank you though!

Only eating once a day? God, I'd rather poke my eye out with a big stick

You're not stupid, you know a combination of exercise and sensible eating is the way to go. You don't have to go mad with it. You don't have to cut out the foods you really enjoy. Everything in moderation and all that. You'll feel better for it, which you know as you've lost weight before.

Now that spring has sprung it should hopefully make it a little easier for you. Winter is a nightmare time to try and lose weight

    Good luck!

Eating once a day was a problem I developed when I had another problem, namely, alcoholism...I drink still, but nothing compared to what I do now...it pales incomparison . I'm pretty much doing what you recommended, its just damn, I'll lose weight, then it comes right back, and I swear it seems at a far faster pace than it "falls off" at! Moderation is the key, or so I think? And yeah, spring time mushroom hunting, hell yeah! Lots of cardo there! You like Cep's i.e. Boletus edulis Holly? I think they're called Cep's where your from

The best advice I can give is to eat a hearty breakfast with some carbohydrates every day and eat sparingly for the rest of the day.
Eating before sleep is counterintuitive as no energy is needed to sleep but don't go to sleep hungry. A very light snack of two cookies and hot cocoa is a good option.
The best way to lose weight is to invert your eating habits, treat your body like a car, fuel up at the start of the day and let your activities metabolise those calories.
Most days, I eat one meal (breakfast) and a light snack in the late afternoon (a piece of fruit and some nuts), then about 45 mins before bedtime, another snack.
I lost 8 kg in 3 months doing this without working out. I hope this helps or inspires.
I try, I swear I do....to eat breakfast, but it makes me so freaking sluggish and stuff, that I skip it all together. I may eat it, 6-7 time a month tops! I have figured that doing the opposite would help and too a degree it did, I'm hung up on eating certain foods and stuff.....lately casseroles I've been making: Self proclaimed master chef! That you for the advice Mel, and its does hep and inspire! And, its not as if I look "fat" per se, I have a large body structure so it evens out, but I'm still over weight/under-toned.

I've had that problem. Of course, I had an eating disorder at the time and had gone 5 days without any food. I had chicken broth (4 calories) and lots of diet coke. So......

You only mention caloric intake. Are you getting enough protein, carbs and fat? If your ATP is not replenishing, you are eating the wrong foods and/or overtraining if your regiment includes exercise. Many dieters steer clear from white potatoes, but they replenish glycogen pretty fast in comparison with most carbs.
Oh my that's terrible hun! Its been found that diet pops can and does cause glucose intolerance and it also changes the bacteria in the gut, which makes you gain weight not lose it. My food intake structure hasn't changed, however, I was never really eating a lot of carbs, well most of the time. No, I must have tater's esp those Yukon golds! Damn they're good!

They were funny, and so is yours! I had a problem when I initially gained a lot of my weight years ago by "sleep eating." I haven't done it in years though. I don't care much for chips, less its them kettle crunch things: Yum!

Thank you V
