Well too me, it just makes sense to be that way, but I personally know how I sometimes get "attachment issues" from being too close for too long a time. I was a lot like you, hell I had rules of do's and don'ts, I just tossed them in my 30's I guess? I don't foresee hard feelings occurring, I see no reason why really?
