Gingerbread, gingerbread rock
Gingerbread rings and gingerbread swings...

Not all my comments here can be profoundly intellectual.

I never knew that about that about ginger April. Of course, I'm not a fan of sprinkling ginger in my beer. But love a good ginger cookie.
Happy Holidays to you as well April.
Enjoy this special time of the year.

Just grew my first ginger this past summer also tried horseradish but it didn't turn out as well as the ginger did.

    Quoting  :

You must also remember at this time of year that the Bible says that three wise men travelled from afar to visit the infant Jesus as he lay in the manger. They brought him gifts of gold, frankincense and myrhh.

Frankincense and myrrh are both resins ... dried tree sap... that come from trees of the genus Boswellia (frankincense) and Commiphora (myrhh), which are commonly found in northern Africa and the Middle East. Frankincense and myrrh have always been used to create incense, a substance you burn to create pleasing aromas.

The sap from these two trees is collected in a similar way that people collect rubber-tree sap or pine-tree sap. Cutting the tree's bark causes the sap to flow out of the cut. It's allowed to dry on the tree, and then it's collected.

Amazing what was deemed valuable ago.

If you really like ginger, get a hold of Detroit's own Vernor's ginger ale. Canada Dry it is not

I never heard of it before, but being the inquisitive sort, I checked it out: Vernors ginger ale shares the title of America's oldest surviving soft drink with Hires Root Beer. It was invented in 1866 by James Vernor, a Detroit pharmacist. I suddenly am parched and need some!

i have noticed bags of candied ginger at various Sufi events where
i provide music. the Whirling Dervishes claim ginger helps. then,
a few months ago, i happened to catch an episode of myth busters
(i found out later it was an episode from 2005 ~ we don't have a TV,
so it was serendipitous to catch the program) where the team used
one of those spinning chairs and tried various OTC anti-naseau remedies.
they concluded that ginger was the superior remedy!
