A Friend in Need

I stopped off at the store on my way to work yesterday, and when I came back to the car, the engine sputtered and conked out when I tried to back out of my space. I tried turning the key again but after a while it would just wrrrr-wrrrr-wrrrr without catching. Fearful of burning out the starter, not sure I could find anyone to help me with a jump-start, not sure exactly what the problem was, not able to contact any of my few friends in town with a car on short notice to give me a ride, and running short on time to get to work, I called ahead to say I'd be late and set out on foot. From Decatur and Flamingo to....just past Decatur and 215. Which is a bit of a hike in Las Vegas in April. Glad I wore my new black dress shoes. My left heel is pretty much all blister.

While I am still waiting for the third rescheduling of our second date to pass successfully, I did call my Starbucks date and she did agree to give me a ride to my car after I finished work at 9 o'clock last night, so we're fast friends for sure. She showed up and was a little skeptical about wandering around an empty parking lot off Decatur and Badura in the middle of the night, protection or no protection dog, but our neighbors, who happen to be Las Vegas CSI (yep), helped her out with directions, not to mention assurances that this was about the safest place in Las Vegas you could find yourself.

Anyway, we made it back to my car, where it turned out I could have avoided all this foofarah if I'd just thought of splashing some Coca-Cola over my battery terminals. But it was nice to see my friend again.
