Blasts from the Present

Long-time readers of this blog may recall my Platonic Traveling Companion, who called me today more-or-less out of the blue wondering if I could drive her, her and her 's friend to the lake. Sure, although it was a tight fit since I had already packed the car full of boxes of books to take around the bookstores today (part of the constant winnowing of way-too-much-stuff-for-an-apartment). But hey, one of the can lie on top of the boxes, it'll be just like being in the back of a station wagon.

Had to go pick them up again when a thunderstorm kicked up, my friend yelling at her to get out of the water, her point being reinforced by a crash of thunder and lightning hitting nearby as we were walking back to the car, mama lions having this power over nature.

Since Souper Salad has $4.44 buffets over the weekend of the 4th, we're tentatively planning on meeting up for lunch. The birthday girl gave up her plans on partying throughout the night to rest up for a gig tomorrow.
