Salvador Dali

Salvador Dali was a prominent Spanish surrealist painter best known for his painting of melting clocks, The Persistence of Memory. Dalí grew a flamboyant moustache, influenced by 17th-century Spanish master painter Diego Velázquez. The moustache became an iconic trademark of his appearance for the rest of his life. In a 2010 poll, Salvador Dalí’s facial hair was voted the most famous moustache of all time. Dalí was highly imaginative, and also enjoyed indulging in unusual and grandiose behavior. His eccentric manner and attention-grabbing public actions sometimes drew more attention than his artwork.

The Dali museum in Florida is worth a long visit. They have an incredible collection of his works.

He made some interesting video, too. I was first introduced to his art in the early 1970's.
