Customer services advised me that they have "withdrawn that privilege" so no more free gold no matter how hard you try, I did the icebreaker, I thought I would have to say shag me now type thing to get it passed, (i don't meet) but I just said "welcome to A F F I hope you enjoy it" ... and I got free gold.. so it's worth doing

Well.... ya lost your Gold Crown 👑 Standard members can't read or send emails without spending (buying) points. So... ya got a couple of options. Set up a Private Mail Box here on your blog. Easy to do... Ask me if you need help. Or the other option is to get your Free Gold back. Check Main Page, under My Stuff look for Ice Breaker... That's whatcha gotta do... and you should be able to get your Gold Back. Contact customer support, if you need help. hey, mom, i understand what you're saying. for a time i would get a 2-week membership and other times i would pay. and then it would be notice letting you know when the membership was due to expire. then i started to see where in the a/l people would mention ICEBREAKER or have you tried ICEBREAKER. i didn't have the nerve to ask anyone what in the hell they were talking about  but eventually i came across the ICEBREAKER one day under MY ACCOUNT settings in the EDIT PREFERENCES section. it looked interesting enough to try, so i did. you should check and see if you have that link listed. if it's available to you, you should take advantage of it; couldn't hurt to look

This site has been getting stingy as hell lately. IM used to let us standards talk to 5 people, then they moved it down to 3. Now we have to spend 10 god damn points to hope someone just responds to us which they usually dont.

They seem to tighten the privileges of members every so often. Due to ever diminishing member numbers, the amount of revenue is decreasing accordingly. So unless you have a Gold membership, the IM and email systems now wont work - there may be exceptions but I think unless both parties have Gold, it just wont work. It has probably reached the stage where rather than target the male population of the site to increase paid-for membership, they are now having to target certain female members who have previously enjoyed free membership subject to regular logging in, ice-breakers, etc.
