Suck you dry.

Starting off with a funny before my rant.

Over the past 6 plus years I've been working in a Nursing Home. Over the years there have been many changes, but the latest takes the cake.

Of cause it's NOT FOR THE MONEY, but shifts have been cut, so we all now have to somehow complete our tasks, and have the cancelled shifts tasks added onto ours.

There has been so much stress and tears trying to tell the powers that be, that what they are asking us to do is impossible, we are not robots.

A few of us had a meeting with a woman from HR, which was just about useless, as she wasn't able to answer our questions, all she was there for was to write our concerns down and pass them on.

So far, after only three shifts, one woman has done damage to her shoulder due to the excess of work, and is now off on workers compensation.

I'm also off for a few days with something indirectly caused by the weeks of stress leading up to the changes, wondering if I will have enough shifts to cover rent etc.

As well as hurting the staff, it is having a huge impact on our elderly residents. They are missing out on care they deserve, due to the cuts throughout the Nursing Home, but it's NOT FOR THE MONEY the huge corporation will be saving, they keep telling us, but for the overall care of the residents.

Thanks for popping in and leaving a comment.

Years ago you were a person at work, now you're just a number. Don't like something, then leave. No loyalty to staff anymore.

It's so sad when money means more than people.

Here we have human beings spending their last however much time they have left on this earth being treated so badly.

People that have been through wars to make us safe, and now tossed aside, as they are of no further use. Unable to make more money for those that already have plenty of it.

We have had a few scandals involving the care of residents in homes here. Both the elderly and the disadvantaged. It all boils down to money in the end. It's a very sad state of affairs when people who cannot take care of themselves don't get the care they need because someone is more concerned about profit.

You take care of yourself...stress can be a killer.

I know all too well about stress, and it's been happening big time for around six weeks now, and can't see and end too soon.

I have applied for a job yesterday, just waiting to see if I've made it to interview level.

The sooner I can get out of there the better.

I would love to just walk out, but I need another job to go to. I am looking and as soon as I can leave, there might be a tidal wave. Can't say anything while I still work there, but once I'm no longer an employee............................

Imagine that - big business's being all "stick" & no "carrot"! It is natural the way their minds work that if they squeeze more from the worker they can increase their own bonus's & what is infinitely weirder is they actually think they deserve it! They shoot themselves in the foot though by creating a workplace that nobody there wants to be there & so productivity & service actually drop considerably, plus they chase away the best workers who can easily find work elsewhere. It used to be that an employer would do what it takes to keep a good worker loyal but these goons think that the revolving door of employment agencies will fix that! They can't afford to pay the worker but amazingly they can pay someone to watch the worker! HR - does anyone know what they do or why they exist?

The Fat Cats are doing very nicely. Not so long ago they moved into the heart of the city with what I'm told includes a wonderful view.

I'm sure they have a very nice bonus and fully paid night out at Christmas, where we have to pay for our own night out and if we are lucky a $20 gift voucher.

They keep buying more and more N/Homes instead of looking after the ones they already have.

The one I work at was never meant to be a N/Home but a Rehab place, so is not designed with nice big hallways making it difficult to get the daily movement required.

Some rooms have three residents in them, next to no privacy, but they would loose money if they only had two in the room.

HR....... huge waste of money. I think they do as little as possible and get a nice wage for doing so.

Sorry, I've ranted on again.

Hope your Mum is in a decent N/Home. If it's owned by one of the huge companies and run for profit, just keep an eye on things.

I'm far enough down the mountain for it not to snow. Today is stunning, hard to believe it's Winter.

I hear it even snowed in Queensland.

It is very tough. My ex-wife work in that environment. She was so stress about it. She became sick from it. I talked with her. It helped little. Just don't let the assholes get you down.

Cum to my blog and respond. Have a great kissing fun time.

Everything you said is true. Aged care is one of the lowest paid jobs. The powers that be made a big thing about us getting seventy five c less tax of cause in July, we are still waiting for it.

I do feel for the residents, as we are so tired and stressed that we do snap at them sometime, and fellow workmates. They can be very demanding, but in most cases it's not their fault, as they don't know what they are doing or saying.

We used to have time to have a quick chat to them, now that's been taken away from us. I'm hoping that relatives see the changes and do something about it, as they won't listen to the staff.

Isn't it the residents money that pays the bills?

If they are paying they should be serviced.

blog on!

The residents pay big time, but slowly their rights are getting smaller and smaller.
