favorite movie scenes...
favorite movie scenes... Blue jean baby, L.A. lady, seamstress for the band Pretty eyed, pirate smile, you'll marry a music man Ballerina, you must have seen her dancing in the sand And now she's in me, always with me, tiny dancer in my hand
'tiny dancer', by Elton John
Favorite movie scenes... Sometimes it's not about the movie... Sometimes it's not our favorite movie... But there's just this one scene that stays with us. It could be for many reasons... tenderness... sexiness... deep emotions running through... words that are spoken... or words that are left unsaid, but oh-so-clearly understood.
I saw the movie 'Almost famous' several years ago. It's about a seventies rock band [supposedly an allegory for Led Zeppelin] and that era's rock scene, the whole culture that evolved around rock tours and concerts, as seen through the eyes of wayward . I loved the movie as it reminded me of favorite concerts, and of moments shared with people I had lost touch. And needless to say it had a great soundtrack, one I was quick to buy.
Well... there is this one scene... Billy Crudup's character, Russell, the band's guitarist has disappeared, gone partying and his band members are frustrated with his erratic behavior. They finally manage to locate him and he eventually gets back on the road with them. On the tour bus you can feel the tension. It's so thick you can slice it with a knife. No one is looking at anyone else. And then this song comes on the radio: Elton John's 'Tiny dancer'. The rest of the band are singing to the tune. Russell reluctantly starts singing too, joins in with them. And as he sings his face changes. By the end of the song, it's as if nothing had happened, all is forgiven, they are one band again... brought together by the music that they love.
Here we are not simply reminded of the subliminal power of music. This scene, brilliantly scripted and directed by Cameron Crowe, fully displays the emotions music creates, (without the single use of a word), and its ability to bring out the best in people.
Having said that... will you listen to Elton John with me?...
Hold me closer tiny dancer Count the headlights on the highway Lay me down in sheets of linen you had a busy day today...
Any favorite movie scenes you wish to add?
As always... my love... my kisses

Loved "Almost Famous" ... Tim McGraw did a nice version of "Tiny Dancer" not too many years back.
I'd have to say one of my fav movie scenes that always comes to mind is the part in "Jerry McGuire" where Tom is bantering apologies and professing his love and Renee stops him with "You had me from hello" which Kenny Chesney credited for this hit:
You Had Me From Hello
One word, that's all you said Somethin' in your voice caused me to turn my head. Your smile, just captured me And you were in my future as far as I could see And I don't know how it happened, but it happened still You asked me if I love you, if I always will
Well you, had me from "Hello" I felt love start to grow The moment that I looked into your eyes, you won me It was over from the start You completely stole my heart And now you won't let go I never even had a chance you know You had me from "Hello"
Inside, I built a wall So high around my heart, I thought I'd never fall One touch, you brought it down The bricks of my defenses scattered on the ground And I swore to me I wasn't gonna love again The last time was the last time, I let someone in
But you, had me from "Hello" I felt love start to grow The moment that I looked into your eyes, you won me It was over from the start You completely stole my heart And now you won't let go I never even had the chance you know You had me from "Hello"
That's all you said Somethin' in your voice caused me to, turn my head You had me from "Hello" You had me from "Hello" Girl I've loved you from "Hello"
That song means so much to me these days.
Much love

thetxyellowroseah, the duke... he was an icon... and a great cowboy. though i really liked john wayne as a cowboy, especially in 'stagecoach', my choice of a cowboy would have been gary cooper [in 'high noon'] or glenn ford. thanks, kisses

I so enjoy Elton John, great lyrics and phrasing!
There are many great moments in movies, but as soon as I read the question, all I could think of is a sexual moment in film. There is a moment in the movie Presidio when the lead actor takes Meg Ryan on the hood of his car--right there in the open!
Always liked that scene.

dreamlover_86oh yes... the actor you're referring to is mark harmon [currently starring in 'ncis' on tv], and that's a very hot scene... i think it's a red convertible and she has been dodging him by racing around as 'foreplay'... thanks for reminding me of that one. kisses

stormyonegoodapparently it's glimmer and mrs.muff, lol... and you're talking about arnold schartzenegger, the governor of california, lol... incidentally his other famous line was 'hasta la vista baby...', from the terminator. a spanish friend who saw the spanish-dubbed version of this film informed me that in spanish they dubbed this line to 'sayonara baby', lol... kisses
