Broken hearts...

Broken hearts...

Broken hearts...

I can think of younger days when living off my life
Was everything a man could want to do
I could never see tomorrow
But I was never told about the sorrow...

Bee Gees
"How can you mend a broken heart"

yes, I know, it's a cheesy 1970s song...

We've all been there, haven't we? We've all had our hearts broken. Probably not just once too. We've all felt that all too recognizable pain, we've all shed some tears...

So, what do you do to mend your broken heart?
Do you go out drinking? Stay in drinking? Listen to sappy old songs like me? And get misty? And reminisce? Do you start asking questions? What if I had done this? What if I had done that?
Do you go on a trip? Change your wardrobe? Your hairstyle? Do you hit the books and catch up on your reading?
Do you watch old romantic films?

Do you look for consolation sex? A booty call?
Do you turn to family or friends? Allow them to distract you?
Do you use work as therapy? Do you turn into a workaholic?
Do you dance? God knows I do... It is sooo exhilarating...

I don't have a rule really... I usually just let the pain sink in. I listen to a lot of music, I always find comfort there. I tend to retreat, to spend some time alone to lick my wounds. I cry occasionally. The after my tears have dried up, I look in the mirror... take a deep breath. And decide that my scars are healed... well, in some cases, almost healed. That's when the shadow of a smile appears on my face. And by that time I know I am ready to face the world again.

But please tell me. What do you do? How do you mend your broken heart?...

As always. My love. My kisses.

I lose myself in my writing and in music.

Share my journey...I write when my soul cries.

I am one to listen to sad songs too....

I am a celebration of willful chaos and a hugger.

I find a new distraction. Not so much a booty call, just someone else that makes me look forward, vs back.. a friend, with benefits.

Music and long walks. I tend to talk to myself and others more than usual. I go crazy for chocolate and wine also.

all sound like excellent choices.
i'm not much of a walker... country walker, that is. i do my share of walking in the city. not much of a wine drinker either... more of a single malt whiskey guy...

somehow, i have a hard time picturing you doing anything in excess, you seem like a pretty balanced woman my dear ms. opus.

kisses.

First, I stop listening to music that reminds me of him until the pain is not so fresh, I cry a lot and try to let myself fully feel the pain of the loss. I lean on my friends heavily, I get angry and move through the stages of grief.

Then when I am healed, I go back to my sappy love songs, romantic movies and then cry some more.

ah, ok, so you save the sappy songs till later. not a bad idea. it is rather torturous to listen to some sappy songs, i will admit to that. for me it maybe just speeds up the healing process. but that's the great thing, we all do what we have to do.
thanks.

kisses.

I'm very curious as to what kind of music you listen to. I suspect very different from mine.
I'm not much of a writer but I can see how it can really help. And yes, catharsis and closure are vital.

I'll check your old post shortly, thanks for bringing it to my attention.

kisses.

well, i'd love to read your words ms. lumi...
and yes, this is real, as real as it gets... only it didn't happen now... [smile]... it's how i write my blog. never when it has just happened but with a safe distance. it's not a journal. more of an album with old faded pics... intertwined with some brightly colored new ones.

kisses.

ah, my dear gea, you should never do that. it's not worth, HE is not worth it. i know it seems like a way to end an insufferable pain... but in the end it just ends up in more pain and suffering.

your sister's company is such a better alternative. let alone the road trip...

thank you for sharing this, you are a brave soul.

kisses.

I am reckless. Can do things I would never do otherwise. Probably otherwise painful, but the pain of the heart is so strong and deep that when I go through it everything else seems trivial.
I curse myself for having loved so profoundly. It passes though...

I swim. Swimming feels like the water will clear it all away. Water relaxes me and I lose myself in the clarity of it.

if you haven't loved profoundly, you haven't loved at all...
and yes, stick to swimming, it's good for you. just stay safe...

maybe that's a wise attitude, i don't know. to not get too serious... it certainly has its ups. i suppose it is about what we each want.

thank you my dear jasmine.
