SCORPION STING!!

I got stung by a big brown scorpion last night when I went out on our patio barefoot. It got me on the toe next to the little toe on my right foot...

At first I thought I had walked on a piece of Cholla Cactus, or stabbed my toe on a nail or piece of glass...I'll tell you the truth....it hurt like all heck.

Of course I was a dumbass. I've lived here long enough to have learned to always go outside after dark with a flashlight.

I found the scorpion after I went back inside to get the flashlight I should have had with me all along. I found him and killed him in evil retaliation for stinging me. Poor guy. He was just doing what nature made him do....

This is a picture of him that I took after I squashed him and cut off his head. I placed him on my unlit wood stove to shoot this picture. ...
At first my toe stopped hurting, and didn't swell up, but I started having pins and needle vibrations in my legs and then my arms and hands. It felt like when you grab a live electrical cord by mistake and get shocked by the current..

We had a hot day yesterday--Saturday. It was 103 in the late afternoon and this scorpion must have just come out of his burrow and was loaded with poison.

I was stung once before on the finger by a brown scorpion when I was putting in a window AC.

I remember getting the same pins and needles sensation that time too, but it only lasted that time for a couple of hours...

This time I was up all night, and was pretty shaky this morning, but now I'm pretty much back to normal except my toe throbs--but still hasn't swelled up. I have good circulation in my legs and in my body, so I expect to be back to my normal routines by this evening..

Meanwhile, I've been putting fresh batteries in all my flashlights, and when I go outside from now on I'll wear some shoes, and have a bright flashlight with me.

ouch, glad the pain was only temporary and not more serious.
Thank you Haey! I'm all back to normal today... This type scorpion is classified as an Arizona Scorpion.. In some people, if they have a severe allergic reaction, this scorpion can be quite dangerous. I'm very healthy though, and aside from some painful spasms in my hands, and thighs, the next day, everything is fine...Incidentally, I put up a low energy light on the patio so I can see where I'm going out there at night...david

Things do grow pretty big out here.. If I'd just had a light I would have easily seen him.. I'm feeling much better now... I'm lucky he wasn't a sidewinder.

Everything that bites comes out of their burrows when the weather turns warm about this time in May, I haven't been very hungry, and my legs were a little shaky earlier but I'll be all back to normal tomorrow morning...love, david

But But But don't you need to go to the hosp.?? don't you need to take some types of meds. ?????????you must!!!
Naw! I took 300 mg of magnesium oxide to relax my muscles..Did you know that the Apache Medicine men used to have some of their old people who had Mr. Arthur Righteous stung by brown scorpions to clear their aches and pains..? I don't have any aches and pains, but I've always figured what didn't kill me just made me stronger..The pins and needles are all gone now, and my toe only hurts a little. I'll be as good as new tomorrow..Thanks for asking sweet Smooth lady!! love, david

I've never been stung or bitten by a wasp, but I've seen a few that look like they could do some painful damage! We have two types of scorpions here, the brown ones--like this guy--and the green ones. The green scorpions are sometimes huge, but they aren't poisonous like this guy was...Thanks for commenting, Dennis,,, Salute! David
