Blast from the past

I very recently had a chance to become reacquainted with one of the very first people I met here. I know this probably seems like a helluva strange place to meet people that you connect with in a non sexual way, but it does happen. Years had gone by since we spoke last, maybe 8 or 9, but 3 minutes into a phone call we were right back where we were then. Our our older, we are older, one of us has had major relationship changes, the other is still working on the same mission project. Careers have changed. Everything has changed, except our rapport. I don't think I can describe how nice it felt to hear his voice again, especially to hear him say my voice in the exact same "what am I gonna do with you" tone. I hope he could hear my smile.
Now, I don't mean to take anything away from the other friendships I have made over my years here, I love you guys too, but he was the one I lost touch with and who crossed my mind often but I had no contact info for. The universe set things up for our paths to cross again, and I am grateful.

voices can... sooth the soul...
I know exactly what you mean...
What's strange and sad.... is all the voices we don't hear.
I'll never hear yours... will I?
No worries... enjoy the moments... 😘❤️

that's a nice read... I've had lovers return... so sweet...

thanks for sharing...

reminded me of this one...

Dan Fogelberg - "Same Old Lang Syne"

Met my old lover in the grocery store
The snow was falling Christmas Eve
I stood behind her in the frozen foods
And I touched her on the sleeve
She didn't recognize the face at first
But then her eyes flew open wide
She went to hug me and she spilled her purse
And we laughed until we cried
We took her groceries to the check out stand
The food was totaled up and bagged
We stood there lost in our embarrassment
As the conversation lagged
We went to have ourselves a drink or two
But couldn't find an open bar
We bought a six-pack at the liquor store
And we drank it in her car

Great song! One of the few I can play with no sheet music.

It's always nice to read about a reconnection. Glad you had that opportunity. I reconnected with an old friend from here about a year ago. It was nice to see she was in a much better place relationally. While the friendship will never take a physical form again, it was very nice to see her again.

Great story! Glad he put a smile on your face! Sometimes it's as simple as hearing someone's voice!
