Birthday Swag

Those who have read my blog for awhile know that one of my hobbies is running. Occasionally I compete in races. Over the years I've accumulated a lot of race medals. Twelve to be exact with another medal on its way soon. Displaying and organizing them has started to become a challenge.

Even though my birthday isn't for a couple of weeks, there is something that I have had my eye on for quite awhile but deemed it too frivolous to consider purchasing. Until now. I decided to buy a medal hanger to display my race bling.

The one I ordered has a tan vintage background with Vintage style black script. I realize some of you are rolling your eyes but hey, it's the little things that make me happy!

Bonus points to anyone who can name the movie where the phrase "Go the distance" is said. It's not a Disney movie, by the way. Here's a hint:

For those that haven't figured it out, I ALWAYS go the distance in EVERYTHING I do. Not just with running.

Field of Dreams !
Display those medals, just like when we were kids.
Self accomplishments are the greatest motivators.

No eye rolling here! I think it's great that you want to show off your accomplishments. They're yours, you worked hard for them so show them off and be proud of them! Yay you!!!

Shouldn't you have a hook in the middle that's empty. So you can field those questions like,"What's going here?" Maybe for motivational purposes.Dream, ultimate goal or maybe a memory! Most of all there is room for one more!

Using more than all the road!

I sometimes wonder if I can keep up with you?

I HATE fracking running!!! Lmfao!!! But I have to do enough to pass a 1.5 mile run in 15 minutes to keep Officiating College Football games.

And one of my favorite Baseball movies of all time. The part at the end where he asks Dad to play catch gets me. Makes me remember my Dad every time danger!!! Lol. Hugs sexy

Running isn't everyone's forte. I've started to taper my running distance back by supplementing with elliptical workouts to stay injury free. It's actually amped up my fitness regimen and physical progress.

I don't doubt that you go the distance in everything, my dear Myelin. And I'm sure keeping up with you is a challenge, but oh so rewarding.

You've given me the urge to display my own medals, too.

I imagine you exhibiting your medals in your bedroom. Any man who gets to see your display will understand how fortunate he is.

I haven't decided where I will display them. Certainly not in a conspicuous area of my home. It will definitely be some place low-key where few people will see them.

12 medals is quite impressive....the only running medals I have are my racing number badges......

No eye-rolling here. Be proud of your accomplishments!

myelin36 replies on 3/6/2016 5:26 pm:
I'm normally pretty low key when it comes to acknowledging my accomplishments. Guess that explains why it took me nearly 4 years to finally decide to buy the medal holder. Too much self confidence screams, "I'm a narcissist!" While too little self confidence screams "I'm insecure!" It's a delicate balancing act indeed because we live in such a judgmental society.

Bought an elliptical myself last month. Using it 5 or 6 days a week now trying to get ready for Spring Football. Lol. And that damned run test in July. Uuuuggghhh!! Nobody ever is required to run 1.5 miles non-stop in a Football game!!! Lmfao!!! Hugs

You can do it!

The picture gave it away, especially since I visited the location a few years back, in summer with the corn standing tall. Thanks for sharing on your blog

I think it's great...and it's not narcissistic to be proud of your accomplishments! Now, if you veered into thinking everyone should bow to you because of the medals...well, that would be a different story! xoxo

Always tell the truth
Use kind words
Keep your promises
Giggle and laugh
Be positive
Love one another
Always be grateful
Forgiveness is mandatory
Try new things
Say please and thank you
Say your prayers
Smile

You have a point. Now I can think of a lot of people that are true Narcissists with Donald Trump being at the top of the list. I am sure that remark will probably piss a few people off but oh well..
