I Took a Snow Day

It started snowing here yesterday and has not stopped. Yes, I am a bit of a wuss when it comes to driving in the snow. It wouldn't be a huge deal if Kansas knew how to clear their highways and my city knew how to clear the streets but they don't.

When I woke there was about a 3" accumulation with more snow expected throughout the day. After checking my schedule, I was amazed to see that every single one of my would have to travel in the stuff from out of town to see me today.

So in the interest of the safety of myself and my (my too) we both decided to stay home.

Wouldn't you know it, instead of seeing it as a good thing, a couple of my were upset. It goes without saying, "you can't please everyone".

And to think- I have to make a 90 mile drive in the stuff tomorrow morning to attend the second half of my EMDR training. I wont worry about it--yet. In the meantime, I have chili simmering in the crockpot, a pan of cornbread in the oven and my warm fleece on. Here's to staying warm!

Here is the view from my back door:

I was going to be adventurous last night in the DC and drive about 10 miles or so for dinner. Something said to just go to a place that was about 1 mile from my hotel.

As I got of the car at the restaurant it started to snow.....didn't think anything of it. It was only about an inch..when I returned to my room there was a news update about the entire DC Beltway in gridlock. @0 minutes trips took over 90 minutes......

I took a one hour delay to let the idiots clear the road. I grew up in Colorado and back then they didn't do much with the roads till the snow stopped. You just had to take a step back, slow down and know how your car handled in the snow. Now days to many people think if their car goes forward then they won't have a problem stopping, especially those with 4 wheel drive, so it was a good choice you took that snow day. Be safe out there today.

I agree it's too cold to do much of anything in winter.
Here is a pic showing how hard and cold winter is in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Heck, temps were so cold it got down to almost 65......brrrr.

It is a snow week here. 18 inches of snow and 50 mph winds the last two days. Just like life . A very nice day, calm before the storm. Snow starts to fall, temp. drops, wind blows. You work thru it. take shelter, get caught in it, work through it. Snow stops, wind calms..... Sun comes up. Clean up the mess!! Talk about how bad it was a few years from now, comparing it to other storms! Thank the Lord for the moisture!
