My CL Good morning and happy Monday! This past weekend I decided to conduct an interesting "experiment." I had a free weekend with nothing to do and it seemed all of my friends had plans. So, just for kicks, I posted a CL ad in the women seeking men section just to see what kind of responses I'd get. My headline read, "Date Night?" My ad stated that I was simply seeking someone to hang out with and I made it crystal clear that there would be absolutely no sex involved. I'm pretty sure that disqualified a majority of men. Nonetheless, I received about 25 responses from a variety of men curious if I was a scammer. Some lived over an hour away, others were rude in their reply- "Send me your photo first" and others just wanted an online pen pal as I discovered after conversing off and on with a guy for a few hours only to discover he had his over and was not serious about going out. One interesting prospect sent me a photo and after sending him mine, he never replied. Geez, am I THAT ugly?! After wasting an ENTIRE afternoon bantering back and forth, it became obvious that my experiment was a huge waste of time. I think I would have stood a better chance of scoring a date by going to church. SERIOUSLY. Moral of the story: CL was a huge waste of time. Can someone tell me why men reply to ads if there is no intent to meet once it is established I'm a real person, not a scammer? |

I've never had any luck with CL, either. Either I get no replies, or the person just wants my credit card number, or I get blocked as soon as I've sent them my picture.

I actually met my current FB on CL, NOT here. But my experience is you're generally correct. It seems most of the women on there are pros, or schilling for some dating website. Yes, CL, is hit or miss. I find this site a hit or miss too. I think there are people who love to play games....they are posers! LOL - I do not know much about CL (Craig's list) right? But it does seem to have a bad rep with fakes and pro's working the site, so I can see guys a little reserved. Wonder what your post was - You should post it her for review so we know what a real add for a date looks like. And a picture of you OMG - love to see that - What are you doing this weekend - LOL. Probably not a waste of time but a interesting experiment Ms. M. some men are shy and when use to rejection or fakes become very cautious too wondering can she be real????
