Not Feeling It

Last year blogging served a viable purpose in my life. It filled a void during a somewhat disjointed romantic relationship. In another vein, blogging mostly provided me with a form validation of sorts.

The subject of validation opens up a pandora's box. I guess you could say that in spite of everything I may project to you the viewer, at the core of my being, I tend to be a deeply insecure person. I dare say few women will admit it but trust me, if they were true to themselves, they would acknowledge the role that validation and insecurity play out in the blogging community and in the blogs that are created.

That being said, I have felt very disconnected from blogging over the last several weeks. Every time I begin to start a blog, I question my motives and arrive at the same conclusion: I am just not feeling it.

I've decided the time has come to stop living my life vicariously through blogging in a veiled attempt to seek out validation. It's time to start living my life offline and that means experiencing life to the fullest which includes cultivating and growing my offline friendships.

To those I have met through the blogging community I wish you the best. I may occasionally pop online to catch up but for now, I've decided to take a break.

Warmest Regards,
myelin 36

Everyone takes breaks.

I've taken a year break sometimes.

You must do what YOU want and if taking a much needed break is what YOU want to do then by all means DO IT!! ENJOY yourself and anything you wish to be doing!

Breaks, at times, are absolutely necessary. That said, we'll miss your writing.

Hope you'll at least lurk and enjoy the blogosphere here... and know that you will be welcomed back with open arms.

And... if in the course of being out and about you have experiences you want to share, by all means, post, post away (which will also let us know that you're okay)!

I'll certainly miss reading your posts; I found your blog to be one of the most insightful and intelligent on Senior Sizzle. In so many cases, we were of like mind on a topic (maybe that's why I found your blog to be intelligent ).

I'd suggest that if you enjoy blogging, continue to do so but only as you feel like it. That's the space I tend to live in. I don't consider myself a blogger; more of a guy who writes when the mood strikes him. And in terms of motives for writing, you are clearly in the minority here. There aren't many who can raise their hands and say they blog for altruistic reasons, with no agenda. I know I can't.

One final comment on validation; particularly seeking it on the Senior Sizzle blogs. I quickly realized that I felt more validated receiving a positive comment from an individual who possessed intellect than five comments written by those who may possibly have not.

Anyway, enjoy your time off and I, for one, hope you return. There's no way I can live on a steady diet of 'why do guys keep sending me dick pic' posts.

I will miss you...and I wish you the VERY best. You're one of the good ones and you deserve all the happiness you can wring out of this crazy thing we call life. If you ever decide to come back, I'll welcome you with open arms (as I'm sure everyone will). So godspeed! xoxo

You are one of the few who I watch here. I understand the need to move on and I wish all the best for you. So . . . just a smile before you go . . .

It does seem that a number of bloggers are taking a break or even leaving for good. Sad to see but you all have your reasons.

You will certainly be missed. I've found your posts to be very interesting and thought provoking. I can understand where you are coming from though and think it is a good idea to be involved in the real life face to face friendships more so than the online stuff. I hope you have people to share your thoughts with and get your validation from. It is always good to have someone to connect with even if they are on the other side of an internet connection. I'm sure the people here will always be glad to hear your thoughts and opinions anytime you feel the need to share them. I know you look good on the outside and I'm sure from your writings that you're beautiful on the inside as well. I wish you and yours the best that life can bring.

PS. Don't get caught in any tornadoes unless you have your ruby slippers with you.

2 Thoughts I had while reading this and the following comments:

1. You gotta forgive yourself and have fun being whoever you are, whether it's the worst or best version of yourself.

2. All of us swingers on Senior Sizzle are seeking attention and validation; otherwise why would we be here?

And btw, I was going through my own insecure bullshit most of last year, and I'm glad I found YOUR BLOG on here; it really helped me put things into perspective. I know you meant to help people understand themselves better, along with venting and validating your intelligence and attractiveness (which in my opinion deserve to be validated )

You've worked hard to become a well-rounded, confident, and attractive person, what's the problem with flaunting it a little?

No problems there - I go through exactly the same phases. The same insecurities. And the same need for "validation" in a way - though I don't really get it through comments. I get really beaten up in my comments some days.

Hope you enjoy yourself while you are away and will keep an eye out in case you return.

I think everyone goes through the same process and if they don't evolve and do other things, their writing just gets in a rut and becomes masturbatory.

Hopefully you'll pop in occasionally and maybe write a post about this awesome blogger from Kansas that you got to meet when he came back to visit

It's Spring and I need inspiration to start running btw. Keep in touch.

I myself feel much the same. I start to write and ask myself " why bother ". I'm getting that way with commenting on a blog. Now I ask myself why I commented here.

Totally get you... a month later lol! It's funny how I'm finally catching up on my watched blogs and have noticed a similar feeling throughout. Perhaps this summer will be the summer of meeting people in real life!
