Sunday Reflections 4/14/2013

It's been a while since I posted a Sunday Reflections post. I just haven't been in the blogging mood the past couple of months.

So, here's a Sunday Reflection post over the past week and this weekend.

I did go to the wedding of one of my 's best friends growing up. It was a lot of fun, though exhausting.

I think I've aged better than most of those folks from my previous life. Surely I don't look as old as those folks do!!

My was in her usual, loud and out-of-control mode. My granddaughter is growing up so fast. She's 6 years-old and is a carbon of her mother and myself. It is amazing to see the gene pool as the new generations are born and grow. It was great to see my granddaughter and interact with her for the few hours we got to spend together. I hope my granddaughter will want to spend more time with me as she gets older. I'm not one that forces a relationship so if my ever opens her mind to more than what immediately surrounds her, I'll be thrilled.

The bride was gorgeous. She was true to herself and could hardly contain her excitement and joy as she giggled and fidgeted while saying their vows. I think everyone there at the ceremony would have really wondered about the bride if she had been solemn and still during the vow exchange...it made almost everyone in that chapel smile watching that young woman entering into a new phase of her life. She truly looked happy to be embarking on this new journey with this man.

The reception was fun. Again, it was fun and interesting to see the folks from my previous life there trying to figure out who I was...and then when some of them did realize "who" I was, they had to come over and say hi and interact a bit. My had left my little granddaughter and a little friend they brought with them in my care while she flitted around, went outside to smoke cigarettes and just socialize. I didn't mind as I said, it gave me a chance to interact with my granddaughter.

The mother of the bride looked radiant. I was so happy for her and told her every chance I got last night. We were once VERY close and I was glad I was there to experience this happy moment in her life. It has been interesting how different the paths of our lives have gone. Far different than what we use to talk about when the girls were little.

I truly enjoyed myself, though it is a bit stressful to see how much my drinks when she's at these gatherings. She kept assuring me that she had a plan worked out for a ride back to the hotel where she and my granddaughter are staying if she got too drunk. I don't know why she felt the need to tell me that several times during the evening. I worry about my when she drinks so much but I don't impart warnings and such as to what would happen should she get pulled over for drinking and driving. She's a grown woman and she knows the consequences. I do think she feels the need to explain herself or tell me she's got a plan because I'm the reminder of responsibility.

All-in-all I'm glad I went. Going by myself wasn't bad at all. My latched onto me when she saw me sitting in the chapel and insisted that I come and sit with her and my granddaughter. I never know how that's going to go with my and last night it went better than I thought it would.

My work week was busy again...after all, we're rapidly approaching the deadline for the filing of 2012 tax returns. For a tax defense attorney, this deadline isn't as ugly as it is for CPAs, Tax Preparers and Accountants...nevertheless, there is the need to file the necessary forms for an extension for our should they not be ready to file that 2012 tax return.

Walking group is going well. We're entering Week No. 8 of the program so we're staying out walking about 45 to 50 minutes. The weather has been crazy as it is in Oklahoma during Spring...the most difficult weather to walk in is the cold and wet. It is crazy trying to decide how to dress to be at a comfortable temperature when it comes time to walk is a challenge.

Time for another cup of coffee and see how dry my hedges and lawn are so I can get busy tackling the yard work today. There's a good wind blowing so I don't know how long my sinuses are going to be cooperative. AND I want to watch more of the Maters' Golf Tournament today.

Have a great Sunday and a great work week ahead!!!
