Part of me cares

Most of me doesn't-it is a sad time when you don't care about a person that has died from a drug overdose. I am really getting tired of reading about celebrities that have resources available to them to get help and they choose not to. Why should the rest of the world care? Why does this make the headlines?
Why is it so fucking hard to get anyone to pay attention when an everyday person is struggling and ill? So I care about the individual that died; not the celebrity.

Are the headlines ever worth reading or viewing? I never understood the whole celebrity adulation thing. Always a tragedy to lose someone to an addiction but it isn't like anyone isn't aware of the consequences of taking too much of something that isn't good for you!

Because.. We have all lost a friend to drugs. Some drug users got passed by after high school. Some fell apart later and even a few have died. I don't pretend to know what a true addiction like that is like. I just know it has to be a powerful problem for it to take the lives of celebrities. Heck he had it all and he still had to have more drug. Its insanity.

I feel the same as you Jeep. Having never suffered through an addiction, I can't relate to what these people go through, but my question to them is why try it in the first place. Obviously, they have great lives and can satisfy their need for excitement in other ways. I feel sad for the kids. They are the ones that will suffer the most.

I totally agree with what you have written. A lot of news websites are plastered with the overdose death of a celebrity who, like you said have a better chance of getting the resources to help themselves then the common person. And then they snub their noses at us or don't think they have a problem.
As a recovering alcoholic myself, I struggled at first to want to stay clean & sober. I knew I had a problem and I seeked help.
Some people like celebrities think they are too good to ask for help. Then if the overdose, all you hear is crying from their family. So sad.
