Relationships - are we moving away from them?
Relationships - are we moving away from them? Hi a thought, are people getting so used to being single that they really do not want full time relationships and the compromises it entails. And the heterosexual scene (further development of the openness of the 60's) is suddenly catching onto the idea that it is good to have the freedom and no commitment and just have friends, fun and sex (or regular fuck buddies) as so many of my gay friends do. your thoughts please.... |

I agree fuck buddies seem to be the way to go. Be nice to have a partner - who enjoys - or has the same opinion as myself though.

There are certainly a lot more singles around, or at least people living by themselves. Even when a man or a woman would consider themselves to be part of a couple, they may live apart. How people behave is strongly influenced by the attitudes of the society in which they live, but practical considerations and technological changes lead to changes in social attitudes. People live longer and are healthy in old age. There is more prosperity and much more to spend your money on. Careers are more demanding. Women don't need a man for financial support, and they are having fewer children and later in life. In the last ten years or so there has been much more openness about sex. The Internet and Satellite TV have brought about a fantastic increase in the accessibility of sexual images. On the other hand, having a special loving relationship with one person is not likely to be less rewarding now than it has ever been. It's a complex issue, I fancy and there will be no simple explanation of the trend.
