Walking With the Kingfisher

The weight of the world seems heavy at times. When that happens I usually go outside and walk in the woods. It comforts me somehow.

Perhaps by giving me perspective. The trees still stand. The frogs still jump. I realize every time that what had seemed so important was nothing more than a puff of smoke on a windy day.

Then I go home and make cookies.

There are many ways to commune with nature, and they are all great at providing peace, comfort and perspective.

Did someone say cookies?

Read my diary Journal of a Taxi Driver for taxi stories and pictures of flowers and trees.

You can cook?

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

Me too, Keith. But I haven't been getting enough of that this winter. I don't brag on my cookies though I do make a terrific spaghetti sauce.

Ha! That's not the first time you have posed that question, rascal. Anyhow, technically they're fully half-baked.

I believe you, kzoo. I can whip up a mighty fine meat sauce, as well. Bravo!

Aw, thanks for saying that Annette. It's good to see hot pink back in The Venting Blog! You're welcome to the phrase, as I am only a borrower of it anyways.

The biscuit cookie is a new one for me, so thanks for that bit of info. Cookies in the mail won't do. Fresh from the oven is always best. Perhaps you would take cook over the cookie? I will have to visit Australia eventually. It's bucket list stuff...

P.S. Say, are the symposiums over now that humor is silent? I really enjoyed those...

For Norwegians, taking a walk in nature is the solution to all problems. I live 250 meters from a forest, so it's easy.

I like this post and the visual is soothing and hopeful! I love to take walks and my favorite place to walk is the beach. I also am a cookie baker and most often it's chocolate chip. I bake them for home but often bake/ship to family members; bring to a potluck; give regularly to my neighbor who is battling cancer...

Ginger

I reckon I have a bit of Norwegian in me, as well.

Do you use the classic Tollhouse recipe? That's the one I usually go with.
